Region D Elementary Honors Choir
Murphy Elementary had four students participate in the Region D Elementary Honors Choir in East Lansing. This special opportunity for talented young singers in grades three through five provide students the opportunity to participate in a high-quality choral experience alongside other dedicated music students from across the region. Congratulations to: Jenna, Miles, Taylor, and Camden. Elia Reif, Music Teacher at Murphy shared, "This program is new to our area and we hope it will be a positive experience for our young musicians going forward. I am so proud of our students that participated this year."
Empowering Kindness Through Community Outreach
At the heart of every community lies a spirit of kindness and support, and Wilkshire students and families recently demonstrated this through our annual Toiletry Drive. The event was a resounding success. Thanks to the generosity of our families, we were able to collect nearly 1,300 items. For our students, each one represents a small act of kindness.
Our students also put their creativity to work by decorating brown lunch bags that will be used for the meal services of the organization. Their artwork and kind messages are sure to bring joy to the hearts of those who receive them!
This Toiletry Drive marks the second community outreach program led by Empower students this year. Earlier, our Food Drive in partnership with the Haslett Food Pantry was a tremendous success, helping to provide over 300 meals to local families. Together, these efforts have not only supplied vital items to those in need but have also sent a powerful message of community, kindness and compassion.
These outreach projects have fostered a sense of service and kindness among our students, showing them the value in giving back. At Wilkshire, we are working hard to nurture a kind, caring, compassionate community in Haslett. Together, we are making a meaningful difference! If you have an opportunity to thank a Wilkshire student for their kind acts of service, I encourage you to do so.
Be kind. Pass it on.
