DHES Families,

Wow!! Staff Appreciation week was a huge success. A big THANK YOU to the PTA and all of our wonderful families for all your support and generosity this week and throughout the year!! You ROCK!!

We had a super Variety Show last night for the families and this morning for our students. What an awesome show. I am proud of the students who performed. They all did such a great job with their acts. Way to go!!

Please be sure to honor all of the great mothers and mother figures in your life this weekend. It’s time to celebrate. Have a very happy Mother’s Day this Sunday!

Enjoy!!

⭐Friendly Reminder⭐

Just a reminder, to please keep sending in those photos of your 5th graders (request below) if you haven’t done so already. We currently have 48% of the 5th graders with photos sent in. I have tried to respond if you have sent photos in, as your confirmation I have received them. If you did not get a response, please try resending them.

👉At your earliest convenience, please send me two digital pictures of your child. One from when they were younger and one from this year. They don’t have to be school pictures. The candid ones actually make for a more interesting slideshow, as long as they are school appropriate. Please include your child’s name.

Optional: One or two group pictures you may have that feature multiple 5th graders are also welcome. Any pictures from field trips, birthday parties, sporting events, etc. Please include children’s names.

Please send me your child’s photos as soon as possible (no later than May 26th) so they can be included in the slideshow. You can email me or send them to me via Remind.

Thank you so much!

The sun is out - Yay!

Families, you may send sunscreen to school with your student without a doctor’s note, in order to avoid sunburns, under the following district policy/procedure:

Over-the-counter topical sunscreen products may be possessed and used by students, parents, and school staff, without a written prescription or note from a licensed healthcare provider, if the following conditions are met:

  1. The product is regulated by the US Food and Drug Administration as an over-the-counter sunscreen product; and

  2. If possessed by a student, the product is provided to the student by their parent or guardian.

Students who possess over-the-counter topical sunscreen products that meet the above criteria may carry up to 8 ounces at a time, preferably with the container in a plastic bag.

Students may not share sunscreen; they must bring their own. Please take some time to teach your child how to apply their sunscreen safely.

Thank you,

Terry Woodall, BSN, RN
