Scottsville's Tuesday Tiger Times

We had a great first week back at school last week! Students jumped right back into routines and learning, we enjoyed a visit from our Superintendent, and we capped off the week with a Family Game & Skating Night. Children are already asking for another chance to play and skate together—we’ll see what we can work out!

Students are learning about the upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday during morning announcements, exploring why we pause school to honor his life and legacy. We also have FREE books on display in the hallway—thanks to Ms. Janet—featuring famous Black Americans for students to enjoy. While we study history year-round, it’s important for students to understand why we observe certain holidays: they help us reflect on shared values like justice, service, and standing up for what is right.

Artists learn about culture and content connections through art!

• Grades 3-5 will participate in their annual SOL Winter Growth testing on Wednesday and Thursday this week. As mentioned in last week's Tiger Times, this is not considered a high-stakes test, but we use it to practice our test-taking skills and build stamina for hard work.

Pennies and bills are positive points and should be put in your students own jar. Silver coins are negative points and should be put in another grades jar to bring down their total. This is our leaderboard after week 1! Who will take home the trophy at the end of this week!

Holly Jolly Bingo Update: Our rescheduled Holly Jolly Bingo will take place on Friday, January 23, 2026 and tickets are still available here! Join us for 10 rounds of bingo with CASH prizes, ranging from $50 rounds all the way up to a $250 GRAND PRIZE in the final round. Don’t miss this fun, festive night supporting our PTO!

PTO is about supporting our students, staff, and community! Our next meeting is Thursday, January 15, 6-7 PM, outside the gym. Childcare provided for school-aged children. All are welcome!
