Turnaround Academy - May meeting follow-up

Thank you all for your participation in the May Turnaround Academy. Hopefully, it provided time for school teams to focus on their end of year data and have some important school-centered conversations.

NEXT STEPS - It is our hope that you will use the information from the May session as a model that will be turned around with your leadership team and your faculty prior to the end of this school year. Part of being a turnaround leader is building both understanding and capacity in your building - your teachers and other school leaders need to understand the report card data AND they need to have conversations centered around proficiency, attendance, behaviors, etc. I also encourage you to bring in student leaders from grades 4 and above to discuss the data. Show them the attendance data and ask them for their ideas about improving attendance. Talk with them about both academic celebrations and concerns. It never fails that students will provide phenomenal suggestions that grown-ups haven't considered! I ask that you invite your educational specialist, principal coach, and literacy specialist to the meeting(s) when this turnaround occurs. We will send you a link to complete the Spring Behavior Self-Assessment in a separate email. Those should be completed with ALL faculty and staff. The comparison of the pre- and post- behavior surveys will be another piece of evidence required for your PLU completion.

PLU Information - This PLU is for teacher leaders, school administrators, and district leaders who have participated in all sessions of the Turnaround Academy. It will not include those with more than one absence from a session or those who have not worked on the required evidence.

ACAP Reading Results🎉🎈🥳🙌

Congratulations on the impressive gains made by our 3rd Grade students on the ACAP Reading Subtest! Below you can see the average results from all 15 Turnaround Schools. While there is still work to do, I hope you were able to celebrate these accomplishments with your staff prior to the end of school.

Based on the timeline for data review (see below), ACAP results for Math, ELA, and Science will be available in a few weeks. I'm confident we will see similar improvements in student learning once these results are available.
