A Note from the Principal
Day 2/180
This Pirate Ship has officially left the harbor and begun its 2026–27 school year voyage! From my perspective, the first day went off without a hitch and was filled with smiles, hugs, laughs, and plenty of high fives. And that was not just from the students, but the staff too. Although we all love the summer months, our hearts are here with the students and with each other. It is so great to be back!
Today, our kindergarteners had their first official day, which always creates an extra buzz throughout the building. While our newest students were getting acclimated to their classrooms and learning new routines, Mrs. Scott was busy reviewing routines and expectations with our middle school students during their first JMS Meeting of the year. There is something pretty special about watching our youngest and oldest students begin their year under the same roof.
A few reminders as we settle into the school year. The Hull Fire Department will conduct our first fire drill at some point early next week as we begin practicing our safety protocols with students. On Friday, Mrs. Rajan will host our first JES Spirit Day assembly of the year, and as always, students are encouraged to show their Jacobs pride by wearing blue and gold.
All Student Handbook signature pages are due by September 11, and we kindly ask that families review the information and return those pages with their children this week. In addition, the School Committee will be discussing a new Personal Electronic Device Policy during Tuesday’s meeting. We will have more information on this topic in next week's Journal.
Thank you to all of our families for your part in making our opening such a smooth and positive one. The Pirate Ship is officially underway, and we could not be more excited about the voyage ahead!

PickUp Patrol Is Up & Running!
Families should all have received an email from PickUp Patrol, and set up their accounts. (Please check your Spam/Junk folder if you still haven't received the email.) We will be using this system to streamline what can sometimes be a complicated dismissal process. If you haven't registered yet, please do so this weekend. Thank you!
The Superintendent's Weekly Message
We kicked off our return to the 2026-27 school year with an ALL STAFF Convocation this past Monday morning, followed by 2 full days of professional learning. It is always wonderful to see staff return to the schools energized for a busy year ahead! For 2026-27, we have prioritized the refinement of our curriculum guides in grades 6-12 along with training in both Everyday Math (grades K-5) and Envision Math (Grades 6-12).
It was great to see students return to school yesterday! Those of us who work throughout the summer miss the rhythm of a school full of students and learning. Thanks for continuing to trust us with the care and development of your children.
The School Committee will be meeting once a month in the coming year, typically on the first Monday of each month. At their September 8th meeting (a rare Tuesday night due to Labor Day), they will be voting on the recently completed 5-year Strategic Plan for the Hull Public Schools. Once approved, we will be sending out communication to the community of Hull about the Strategic Initiatives in our plan.
The Vision of HPS: Honoring Community. Promoting Confidence. Sparking Curiosity.
For more frequent updates throughout the week, please “Follow and Like” the Hull Public Schools Facebook and Instagram accounts. Here’s to a great school year!
Grade 6 Supply List is Here!
It will be very helpful if 6th Grade students have the supplies on this list. Thank you!
LM Jacobs Student-Parent Handbook
Please Review the Handbook, Then Complete & Submit the Signature Pages
Each year, Jacobs families are required to review the Lillian M. Jacobs Student-Parent Handbook, and then complete and return the Student Handbook Signature Page and the Chromebook Signature Page. School policies and expectations are carefully laid out in the handbook, and it is an excellent source for any questions you may have about Hull Public Schools, and the Jacobs School in particular.
The Handbook and Signature Pages can be found by clicking on the links below.
Chromebook and Handbook Signature Pages (both in one document)
Students will bring home hard copies of the signature pages to be completed and returned to school. The links are provided in case you need to print up another copy.

We'll Put Them On The Big Screen At The First Assembly!
Send RAD Photos of your Pirates having fun in their Core Value T-Shirts or School Colors to lrajan@hullpublicschools.us all summer long, and we'll add them to the slide show at our first assembly in the fall! Kids love seeing themselves and their friends on the big screen!
