Friends of Weybridge at the top of Snake Mountain! Friends of Weybridge at the top of Snake Mountain!

Dear Families,

Yet another lovely back to school night, this time for 2/3. Mel and the students had set up several stations that the students guided their parents through, giving them a detailed look into their day and their learning. Watching how intently, proudly and fondly parents and students interacted was truly beautiful.

From the district office - NEASC//IB Visits to the Schools: This week, we are excited to welcome visitors from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the International Baccalaureate (IB). Our guests will be colleagues from across the nation and the globe. They will be observing classrooms and schools throughout Addison Central School District. ACSD is proud to be the first U.S. public school district to pursue a joint accreditation with both organizations, a process that helps us grow and strengthen our work for students. This district-wide accreditation process will support a cohesive, PreK–12 approach to learning and aligns with our shared goals and priorities. We are grateful for your partnership as we take this exciting step together. If you want to learn more about the NEASC and IB accreditation process, please visit our webpage. The PYP team will be visiting Weybridge Tuesday morning.

The Barn Dance is a fun event for all ages with LIVE music by Rick Klein and Peter MacFarlane

with Lausanne Allen calling. All are welcome! Entry is by donation - pay what you can and

bring a friend. The more the merrier. Home-made dinner foods will be available for sale to fuel you on the dance floor (pastas, chilis, beverages & desserts) so come hungry! A portion of proceeds from door donations and food sales will go to the John Graham Shelter. Please sign up to prepare a dish or volunteer if you haven't already.

Managing Screen Time - Wednesday, October 22th, 6-7:30

FOWE has been working to find a productive way to support folks who say they are struggling to manage "screen time" at home. Building on the efforts of other local community members in the phone-free school movement, and at the recommendation of a WES parent, we are exploring the book The Anxious Generation and related materials. If managing screen time is something you struggle with at home, and you'd like to connect with other folks to share and explore new strategies, we invite you to join us in a non-judgmental conversation around this issue. Our meeting will be guided by materials made available through the Screen Sanity organization. We hope to see you!

Rain gear: It looks like we’ll get some rain this week. Please help to make sure your children have full rain gear at school -

  • rainboots,

  • rain jacket,

  • rain pants, and a

  • rain hat.

While we have some extras at school, it’s much more efficient and fair if they bring their own and do not rely on our supply. Please also be sure they always have at least one full set of extra clothing in their backpacks. Thank you!

Lunch help: We need a volunteer for Friday this week! If you would like to volunteer, please sign up on this calendar. The next several weeks are filling up, but there are still days not covered. If you can look ahead and sign up through October it would be greatly appreciated. Your help is valuable!

Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or call if you have any questions (802-545-3301).
