🐾 A Note From the Principal: My Purpose and Passion💙
Dear Booker Families, Staff, and Scholars,
As we move forward into another critical week of learning, I want to pause and highlight where we are and where we are headed—together.
Right now, if we were to take STAAR, Booker would be rated a "C" so let's CHEER together! We are working hard to move the needle and EACH DAY COUNTS! So, proud of our scholars and our staff for a job well done last semester! Please ask your child if they met their MOY Goal and also discuss what they can do NOW to meet their STAAR goal and EOY goal in Math, Reading and science.
We are officially 56 days away from STAAR and 24 days away from TELPAS testing for our ESL and Bilingual scholars. The countdown is real, and so is our commitment. Every instructional minute matters, and our campus remains geared up and ready to go. While tutorials were delayed by one week, please know this has not shifted our confidence or our focus. Our instructional plans, targeted interventions, and daily execution remain strong. We are still on the right track to meeting—and exceeding—our academic goals.
Our collective work is about more than a test. It is about growth, consistency, and changing outcomes for our students. We are fully committed to changing our campus rating from a Forced F to a C or better through intentional instruction, strategic support, and shared accountability.
And let’s be clear—while a C is progress, we all know that a “B” rating is for Booker. That is the standard we are working toward, and that is the belief we carry into every classroom, every lesson, and every intervention.
Thank you to our teachers for your relentless effort, to our students for rising to the challenge, and to our families for your continued partnership. Together, we will continue to Get Booker Better Faster.
With pride and purpose,
Keisha Womack
Principal, Booker Elementary School

BENGALS WE ENDED THE YEAR LOWER THAN WE STARTED! LET'S CHANGE THAT!
PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY!
ATTENDANCE IMPACTS ACADEMIC SUCCESS!
ATTENTION PARENTS: PLEASE READ! WE NEED YOUR HELP!
STATE LAW - HELP US HELP YOUR CHILD WHILE AT SCHOOL!
In accordance with Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), parents now must opt in to allowing their child to be seen in the school clinic during the school day.
Please note that if you do not choose to opt in:
Your child may only be seen in the clinic for emergency situations.
Regular or non-emergency visits to the nurse (such as headaches, stomachaches, minor scrapes, or other routine concerns) will not be allowed.
You will be contacted to pick up your child for non-emergency situations.
screenings like eyesight, hearing, and scoliosis can not be performed.
We urge you to carefully consider this decision, as opting out significantly limits our ability to support your child’s health needs during the school day.
Thanks,
Nurse Hughes

Mindset of Mastery – No Mediocre Thinking Allowed
As we move through our mid-year testing, I want to focus on one thing—the Mindset of Mastery.
💭 Mastery Over Mediocre
At Booker, “good enough” is no longer enough. Our Bengals deserve excellence, not excuses. We are pushing every scholar to move from approaching to meeting and mastering grade-level expectations—aiming higher, trying harder, and beating their own best every day.
📖 Mastery Starts at Home
You can help by reinforcing high expectations:
• Read daily and ask questions
• Review math facts
• Encourage full-sentence responses
• Limit screen time and talk about learning
Ask your child:
“What did you master today?”
“What are you still working on?”
💪 We Can and We Will
Changing a campus begins with changing mindsets. When students, staff, and families believe mastery is possible, success always follows.
