๐ Planning for This Year
We are excited for a slow and relaxing summer vacation (however, also want to recognize families may already be planning for school starting back up in late August). Below are a few opening day dates and information:
AUGUST 24TH - MS Open House
AUGUST 26TH - 7th Grade and 9th Grade Orientation. We will hold a full-day (buses will be running their routes) for our incoming 7th and 9th graders. Other grades do not start until August 27th.
AUGUST 27th - First day of school for ALL GRADES.
SEPTEMBER 4TH - Picture Day and Senior Class Photo Day
SEPTEMBER 24TH - HS Open House
OCTOBER 13TH - 17TH - Slaterbration (Homecoming)
๐ Freshmen Orientation
7th and 9th graders will have a full-day orientation on AUGUST 26TH. Buses will run their normal routes (these will be shared out by mid-August). This is a great day for Freshmen to get to know the high school, meet their teachers, and walk through their schedules. I have attached a link to the orientation day schedule below.
๐ AUGUST 27TH - First Full Day of School
August 27th is our first whole-school day (grades 7-12). I have attached our schedule below. We will begin the day with a "Welcome Back" assembly and then go through our normal bell schedule.

๐ Driver's Education Dates
Driver's Education is not a course that we add onto students' PowerSchool schedules since the instructional portion is completed in the evenings and the driving/observation portions occur during either study halls or before/after school. This structure gives our students an amazing amount of flexibility to learn how to learn safe driving skills toward earning their driving license. That being said, if you have questions about your child's Driver's Education course, please contact Raquel O'Brien at robrien@svuvt.org, or (802)265-3636.
This year's Driver's Education sections are as follows:
Fall (Session One): September 8th to October 8th
Fall (Session Two): October 19th to November 20th
Spring (Session One): January 11th to February 19th
Spring (Session Two): March 8th to April 16th

๐จ FHUMHS Club Offerings
Please encourage your child to get as involved as possible. We strive to create opportunities for all of our students (we're always looking for new potential clubs, too)!
โ Attendance Matters
Every school day counts! Please encourage your child to stay engaged in their education. If you are running into struggles, we are here to help. We have a dedicated Guidance team and FHUMHS attendance team focused on adding supports for all of our students. Please feel free to reach out to our Guidance Department at (802)265-3636 for information and support.
๐ซ Substitutes Needed
While the advertisement below was originally made for Education majors at VTSU Castleton, we invite all qualified community members to contact the school if they are interested in exploring substitute teaching at any of our schools!
