Note From Principal Favero
Good afternoon, RedHawk Families,
Can you believe we are already halfway through the first quarter? In middle school, we measure our year in 9-week quarters, and this week marks 4.5 weeks of learning together. This midpoint offers a natural time for reflection—on academic growth, behavioral expectations, and daily routines.
We are proud to share that our students have already shown tremendous progress. They are learning what it means to truly be a RedHawk and demonstrating growth in responsibility, respect, and kindness. One highlight has been our recent RedHawk Wednesday, where students came together to develop a shared commitment to guide their choices and actions:
As a member of the WMS community, I will respect myself and others by giving my best effort, including others, and caring for school property. I will be responsible for my choices and behavior by completing homework, being prepared for class, and setting goals for myself. I will build safety by building trust with others, respecting all students and staff, and using technology appropriately.
This commitment is more than words on paper—it represents the values we see our RedHawks striving to live out each day. There are countless moments that make us proud: students helping one another in the hallways, taking responsibility for their learning, and showing genuine kindness toward peers. At the same time, middle school is a time of growth, which also means reminders are sometimes needed. For example, we continue to encourage students to move promptly to class, keep phones secured in lockers, and use respectful language with peers and staff. These are not just rules, but habits that help create a safe and supportive environment for everyone.
As partners in this journey, we invite you to reflect with your student this weekend. A simple conversation in the car or on the way to practice can spark meaningful reflection. Here are a few student-friendly questions you might ask:
How did you show respect for yourself today?
How did you include others in class, at lunch, or during an activity?
What goals are you working on right now, and how can I support you?
How did you use your Chromebook during math today?
How do your actions at school affect the people around you?
At Wredling, we are growing and learning together every day. Some days, our RedHawks soar, and we celebrate their efforts and successes. On other days, we pause for redirection and guidance—because learning how to meet high expectations is also part of their growth. We are proud of the progress we’ve made as a community and look forward to continuing this important work together.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we are helping our RedHawks become respectful, responsible, and kind members of our school community.
Proud to be a RedHawk,
Francesca Favero, PrincipalP.S. We also had an amazing team day today! Students in each of the teams participated in activities, had snacks and laughed a lot. Ask your students about the fun activities and team building they were able to participate in today. Have a great weekend!
