Major's Minute

This week different members of my family were locked out of the house because the garage door was broken. Although most of us have keys to the front door, the majority of the time we go through the garage. It was easy for us to unload things through the garage. Gaining access to the house with the click of the garage door opener was ideal. We asked the repairman how this happened? Did someone pull on the rope? Did we somehow break it ourselves? But, the answer was simply wear and tear over the years. The spring and rod needed to be replaced.

Interesting that the secondary way into the house had become our primary usage. The main entrance into the house is just not used much. It made me think of the verse Matthew 7:13-14.

13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Now I'm not saying that garage doors are evil. As a matter of fact, our garage door reminds me that new life with Christ only comes through Him. There is no other way to God. He is the gate. All other paths lead to destruction. Let us remember to cling to Christ and help others find the way.

**Note - We are updating our volunteer files. We'll be asking current and new volunteers to complete the volunteer packet. We will also be giving you instructions on how to get additional fingerprinting (now required by law) for those who work with youth. You will not need to pay for anything. We will guide you on how to get this done.**

Young adults are called by God and chosen for a purpose greater. It is important for each to understand that their true identity is found in Christ, who is the foundation of everything. As each grows in faith, we pray that they step confidently into their God-given purpose, knowing that they are part of a much larger story—God's story.

Scripture: "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." - 1 Peter 2:9
