Congratulations to Mr. Brian Sayre
It is with mixed emotions of happiness for Mr. Sayre but sadness for the LCMS community as Brian begins his well-deserved retirement. After nearly thirty years of service in the Centennial School District and at Log College as a teacher, coach, mentor, and counselor, Friday afternoon marked Mr. Sayre's final day at Log College.
We cannot begin to express how fortunate we have been to have known and worked with Mr. Sayre. He has been an instrumental part of the growth and maturity of so many of our past and present students, often in their most difficult times. Mr. Sayre will always be remembered as a figure of strength, wisdom, and caring, and we will miss him.
For our current students....fortunately, Mrs. Brooks has returned to Log College and will serve as part of our school counseling team along with Mrs. Oessenich.
Veterans Day Ceremony
On Friday, November 1, the Log College community honored America's veterans with a ceremony attended by all faculty, staff, students, and many special guests who served or still serve in America's Armed Forces. The school would like to thank Heather Sliwinski for her dedication to America's veterans, for speaking to Log College's students, and for connecting veterans and active duty members to the school for each Veterans Day Ceremony. We will share some photos in next week's newsletter.
Music Fundraiser: Pies (Orders due by 11/8)
The Log College Music Department is once again collecting orders for its Thanksgiving pie sale (Order Form below).

Log College Winter Sports
Dear Log College Families,
As we wrap up a fantastic fall sports season, we’re excited to shift our focus toward the Winter Sports season here at Log College Middle School. Running from November through February, the Winter season will feature four exciting sports open to all of our 7th and 8th-grade students. This year, we’re proud to offer opportunities in Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, and Cheerleading.
We are also pleased to announce the continuation of our JV teams for both boys' and girls' basketball, allowing even more students to take part in a full eight-game season. These JV teams, like our varsity teams, will consist of a mix of 7th and 8th-grade students, ensuring a well-rounded and inclusive experience for all.
Let’s make this Winter season a memorable one for our athletes and our community. Stay tuned for more details, including tryout information and practice schedules. Go, Log College!
Here are some important details for parents and guardians if your child is planning to participate in any of these sports:
Important Dates:
Girls Basketball: The meeting for further information is set for Wednesday November 6, 2024 at 3:00. Tryouts will be held after school on November 7 and 8 from 3:00-4:15. Please contact or see Mr. Swartwood for additional information.
Cheerleading: Cheerleading information to come shortly. Please reach out to Ms. Chase with any questions.
Wrestling: Wrestling will conduct an informational meeting during the week of November 11th. The specific date is to be determined. For more information, please contact Mr. Quinn or Mr. Leiby.
Boys Basketball: Our boys' basketball season begins following the conclusion of the girls' basketball season, around mid-January. More details will be provided as we approach the season start date. Please contact Mr. Clemmons or Mr. Corey for further information.
Fall Athletes Interested in Winter Sports:
If you participated in a fall sport at Log College this year and have already submitted a PIAA physical, you do not need a new physical. However, a PIAA recertification form must be completed and signed by a parent. Recertification forms are available in Mr. Corey’s room (Room 54) and must be submitted before tryouts begin.
Physical Examination: Students must have a completed PIAA Physical Form signed by a doctor before participating in tryouts. Information about our collaboration with Liberty Urgent Care (details attached) may be helpful to families who are unable to secure an appointment with their regular doctor's office.
What if you can not get an appointment??? Can I get it completed anywhere else?
YES: Cvs Minute Clinic or Urgent Care
If you use any of the following Liberty Urgent Care centers and mention Centennial SD your physical will only cost $20

Log vs. Klinger Football
First, a recap of last week's Log vs. Klinger end of season contests:
Girls Volleyball
Boys Soccer
Field Hockey
On Wednesday, November 6, Log Football faces Klinger at WTHS. Again, student spectators must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. The cost for students to attend is $5 (This cost is waived for football players, cheerleaders, and their immediate families).
The Football letter, including the link for permission to attend is included below:
End of Fall Sports
Three of Log College's four Fall sports teams wrapped up their seasons on Wednesday night in the annual Log vs. Klinger matchups held at William Tennent High School. Congrats to all teams, and best of luck to Football next week!
Team Day for 8A
8A had a team building day on Monday where they used index cards to build towers. Students formed teams where they talked and discovered similarities between each other that included hobbies, food, family, etc. Students were able to use an index card to build their tower each time they found a common interest. This was a great experience for students to get to know each other more and make connections.
FCS Baking Club and More
Pics from baking club - the students made birthday cake flavored crumbl cookies. Also included are pics from an FCS activity. They learned about herbs and spices then tried different mixes/flavors on popcorn.
Picture Retakes
Picture Retakes will be held on November 6. Once again, we'll be asking you to complete the picture form online if your child was absent or will be having his/her picture retaken.
Food Drive Event
Cookie Delivery - Fall Fundraiser
If you ordered food (especially the frozen cookie dough!) from our Fall Fundraiser, the delivery is expected early in the afternoon on Tuesday, November 12. If your child doesn't have too many boxes to bring home, we will distribute them to him/her. If the delivery is too large, you may pick up the package between 1:00 and 4:30 in the parent drop-off lane (weather permitting). We will share any updates in next week's newsletter.
