STAAR PEP RALLY - APRIL 15th!

We are excited for our 3rd annual STAAR pep rally for our 3rd-5th grade students. Like in the past 2 years we would love to invite parents to line both sides of our FRONT sidewalk from the front of the building down to door 4 with signs and noise makers! Please be in front of the building ready at 2pm! After the pep rally students will exit from door 4 escorted by their teachers following behind the RCHS drumline and will walk to the front doors to enter the building. This is your time to cheer on all their hard work this year!

Students CANNOT be checked out early following the pep rally. They will need to go home their regular dismissal way/time in order to get students to dismissal locations in an orderly fashion.

It's Time for End of the Year Testing!

Our students and staff in all grades have worked hard all year and it's now their time to show what they know. Please talk to your students, no matter their age, about the tests they will be taking in the next few weeks. Here are the tests our students will take by grade level:

  • Kinder-2nd will take the mClass reading test, which is a timed assessment that measures their reading skills.
  • Grades 3-5 will take the STAAR Reading test on 4/16, 5th graders will take the STAAR Science test on 4/23, and grades 3-5 will take the STAAR Math test on 4/30.

It's important that your children get a good night sleep the night before these tests, and eat a healthy breakfast, either at home or at school, that morning. We want to be sure that all of our students are ready to shine on these assessments. Please try to schedule any medical appointments outside of your child's testing dates. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher(s).

We will also not be open for Family Lunch guests from 4/15 through 5/3 so that our students can focus on their end of the year testing. Thank you for your understanding!

Wednesday, May 22: 2nd Grade Awards (Times TBA)

Thursday, May 23: 5th Grade Promotion, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 4th Grade Awards (Times TBA)

Please note that both of these dates are early release, so our students will be dismissed at noon, and Thursday, May 23, is the LAST DAY of school!

All visitors who plan to attend these ceremonies will be required to scan in with a valid photo ID (ID card, drivers license, or passport) and get a visitors badge.

We hope to see you at these ceremonies! Thank you for your support!

Procedure Reminders Procedure Reminders

Attendance Procedures - REMINDER!

We have a new PEIMS clerk joining our Scott team! Now, after each absence please send in a paper note or email to Heather Wadsworth at heather.wadsworth@rcisd.org.

3 days unexcused absence - parents will have to sign an attendance contract

7 days unexcused absence - parents will have to attend an attendance committee meeting

10 days unexcused absence - truancy will be filed with the county

Please send in those notes so that we can get those unexcused absences changed to excused! You can send in a parent note or doctor note! At this age attendance is not a student responsibility but a parent responsibility so please ensure your children are at school when they are healthy!

Cell Phone Procedures

Students in Grades K-5 are not allowed to use cell phones or watches with cell service accessibility while on campus property. If a student needs to have a phone with them, due to afterschool care communication, it must remain turned off and inside the students backpack until the student is off school property.

If a student is caught with a cell phone it will be taken up and turned into the office. The phone will not be released to the student. A parent/guardian will have to come to campus to pick up the cell phone.

The school is not responsible for any stolen or broken electronic devices.

ARRIVAL PROCEDURES

FRONT OF BUILDING:

Walkers, Daycares, and Buses ONLY

Do not drop off in the front of the building! If you arrive after the gate closes YOU MUST PARK AND WALK YOUR CHILD IN!

BACK OF BUILDING:

There will be two lines for drop off.

Your child may begin to exit their vehicles as you enter the awning area if you are in the interior lane.

A staff member will assist your student out of the car if you are in the outside lane. They will then be walked to a central location and a crossing guard will stop vehicles to get them across.

Adults will be outside to ensure your child is safe and will happily open vehicle doors of any student whom needs assistance.

DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

If you need to make Dismissal Changes those need to be made by calling the front office by 2:00PM or there is a strong chance your student will go home the way they normally do.

FRONT OF BUILDING:

Bus and Walkers ONLY

WALKERS:

Walkers will not gather at the bike racks (in front of the building) for parents meeting their children. Teachers will escort them in a line out the building to the crosswalk. Please wait across the street for your child. Older siblings (Gr4-5) may wait by the bike racks for their younger sibling before crossing the crosswalks.

BACK OF BUILDING:

The gate will open at 2:45. Please form two lines when entering. You will be given a name/number sign to put around your front mirror. Ms. Rodriguez and Mrs. Sykora will greet you each day and use that code to line the students in order. All students will be brought to your vehicle by an adult.

**For both drop off and pickup; please enter from Erby Campbell; there is no way for you to join the drop off/pickup line if you enter from the service road**
