Tenth Sunday After Pentecost: Conversation Church

Prelude:

Welcome and Announcements

Call to Worship Adapted; Liturgy by Rev. Sarah Are | A Sanctified Art LLC | sanctifiedart.org.

Invitation 1: Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, and release it.

Invitation 2: I invite you to pay attention to touch. What do you feel?

Feel your feet on the ground.

Feel the earth supporting you. Thank it for holding you up.

Feel the softness of the clothes on your body.

Thank them for protecting you from the elements.

Feel the chair behind your back. Thank it for providing you a place to belong.

Invitation 3: I invite you to transition to sound. What do you hear?

Listen for the sound of your heartbeat.

Listen for the sound of the rustles that come with community.

Let all of these sounds remind you that God is in this space, and that we are not alone.

Invitation 4: I invite you to open your eyes. What do you see?

Look around this space.

Notice who is here.

Pay attention to the elements that make this space unique.

Make eye contact with a neighbor.

Now breathe in and breathe out. Repeat after me:

This space is holy. This space is holy.

This space is special. This space is special.

God is here. God is here.

We are open to possibility. We are open to possibility.

Singing and Praying Together

Hymns: Holy Holy Holy

They’ll Know We Are Christians By Our Love

Prayers of the People

Lord’s Prayer/Pastoral Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done on earth

as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Brunch Church with Manna Bethlehem Brunch Church with Manna Bethlehem

Join us August 2nd at 10 AM at Calvary for a very special Conversation Church service, hosted and led by the pastor of the newest Northern Province Moravian faith community, Rev. Byrnese Craig. Together, we will worship in the style of a "Dinner Church," exploring the ancient Christian tradition of combining worship with sharing a meal. A light, continental-style brunch will be provided. Do you know someone curious about new, yet timeless, ways of experiencing church and community? This service is the perfect opportunity to invite family, friends, and neighbors. We can't wait to share this table with you!

Come Join Us at Lehigh Valley Pride! Come Join Us at Lehigh Valley Pride!

Lehigh Valley Pride will be on Sunday, August 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks (101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, PA 18015)

We are looking for volunteers to serve at Pride by handing out water and giving glitter blessings at our table. We also appreciate donations of water for us to share at the event! This year, we are asking for canned water only (available at Giant, and most grocery stores).

This year there is an entry fee for the event; children 12 and under are free, 13-17 are $3, and 18+ is $5. The fee is waived if you bring a donation of toiletries for New Bethany.

As reminder, there are several different ways to give your offerings here at Calvary.

  1. Bring your offering to Sunday worship.
  2. Mail your offering to the church office at 948 N. 21st Street, Allentown, PA 18104.
  3. Use your bank’s “BILL PAY” service. A one-time or recurring payment can be made by a bank on your behalf. Banks that offer this service typically cut a check and mail it to the church at no cost to you. Contact your bank for details. The bank usually asks for an account number. Just call Calvary office beforehand and Jess will supply an account number to you or just use your envelope number.
  4. Make an online payment through the Moravian Giving Portal – https://mmfa.info/giving-portal/. Go to this link, click on our church’s name and follow the instructions to make a one-time gift or a recurring monthly gift. Donations can be made by members and non-members via direct debit of a bank account or by credit card. All donation processing fees for portal gifts are now paid by the Moravian Ministries Foundation – your full donation will be received by your church.
