Curriculum Night
We are thrilled to announce our Curriculum Night for this year! We welcome all of our Richmond families to join us for an evening of learning, exploring, and connecting with our school community.
Here is how we are structuring Curriculum Night:
PRIOR TO EVENT: September 1 by 4:00 p.m. – Curriculum Information
Classroom teachers will send their Curriculum Night PowerPoint to families. This presentation includes the information that has traditionally been shared during our classroom Curriculum Night sessions. If you have questions after reviewing the information, you can ask your child’s teacher during Curriculum Night or reach out by email.
CURRICULM NIGHT: 5:30–6:30 p.m. – Explore Richmond!
You and your student(s) will report directly to your child’s classroom. You will have an opportunity to:
- See your child’s classroom
- Meet their teacher
- See student goals
- Receive a Curriculum Night passport
If you have more than one child at Richmond, you can visit each of their classrooms. Once you have visited all of your children’s classrooms, use your passport(s) to explore different areas throughout Richmond!
Each stop will earn you a stamp. Completed passports can be turned in the next day for a Tiger Buck. For our K–1 students, their teacher will have a small token for them.
6:30 p.m. – Pizza & Live Music!
After exploring Richmond, please join us for pizza and live music! Every family is welcome to stay and enjoy dinner together.
We are looking forward to welcoming our families to Richmond and celebrating the start of another great school year!
We can’t wait to see you there!
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Please read the following safety bullets below to help ensure a safe and smooth drop off each morning at Richmond.
- DO NOT park on 12th and walk your child in the middle of the street. Please use a designated crosswalk.
- When using the parent drop off - please have students exit the car on the passenger side - to avoid children exiting their cars near 12th.
- Parents should use the drop off lane as a drop off - parent should remain in their car and students should exit independently. If you need to help your child exit the car, please use a designated parking space.
- If the car line is full - please wait in the line to drop your child off. Do NOT double park next to the drop off line and drop your child off in the middle of the street.
We need EVERYONE's cooperation to make arrival run smoothly. Please adhere to the above to help us make Richmond a safe arrival for students each morning.
If you have a non-parent dropping off or picking up your child. Please share these reminders with them. It is extremely important that EACH family adhere to the above for safety. Thank you!

5th Grade Choir!
Dear Families of Davis and Richmond 5th Grade Students,
I am thrilled to announce that this year D303 is again offering a 5th Grade Choir Program for all Elementary Schools! This program will run in a similar fashion as the current Elementary Band and Orchestra programs with a weekly before school rehearsal, but will not conflict with current band and orchestra rehearsals. The choir program will run from early October through May, with our first rehearsal being Friday, October 2!
Choir will meet on Friday mornings at Richmond Elementary School from 8:10-8:50 a.m. Families are responsible for dropping their choir students off at Richmond between 8:00-8:10 a.m. Davis students will take a bus to Davis at the end of choir rehearsal and will arrive at school for the beginning of the school day.
There is an ensemble fee for choir. The fee is $20 for the school year and will be billed to you through PushCoin once registration closes. Students will also be asked to purchase a choir t-shirt which is required for choir performances.
There will be two performance dates: one on Monday, May 3, 2027, featuring just the fifth grade choirs from across the district, and one on Tuesday, January 26, 2027, at East High School. The January concert is called Vertical Voices and we will be singing with other St. Charles choirs. It is a great opportunity for our fifth grade choir members to see and hear what they do in middle and high school!

Richmond Lockdown Drill
On Tuesday, September 15, Richmond Elementary will conduct our state-required annual Lockdown Drill with law enforcement personnel present. During this time, students will review and practice the classroom procedures. Parents/guardians may opt their child out of physical participation in this drill each year by emailing Lisa Simoncelli-Bulak at lisa.simoncelli-bulak@d303.org and Darlene Buffano at darlene.buffano@d303.org at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled date. Students who are opted out will receive an alternative school safety learning experience with a certified staff member.
Fire Drills
We will have our first fire drill on August 25th and a fire drill with the St. Charles Fire Department on September 9th.
Other Safety Drills
We will also have a bus evacuation drill on September 3rd
We will also have a shelter in place drill on September 11th
We will have another fire drill in the spring.
Alternate Schedule Plan
To support instructional consistency, equitable services, and balanced student experience across the week, D303 is implementing a few targeted schedule shifts at the elementary level in the 2026-2027 school year. When a day off (such as a Monday holiday) disrupts the regular rotation, we will 'run' that missed day’s schedule on another day of the week. This helps ensure that no particular day is over- or under-represented.
Adjustments
● No school on Monday, Sept 7 → We run a Monday schedule on Thursday, Sept 10
● No school on Monday, Jan 18 → We run a Monday schedule on Wednesday, Jan 20
● No school on Tuesday, Jan 19 → We run a Tuesday schedule on Thursday, Jan 21
