Traffic Flow Pattern for Student Drop Off and Pick Up Traffic Flow Pattern for Student Drop Off and Pick Up

Due to safety concerns, all parents are to follow the linked traffic flow map when dropping off children in the morning and picking children up in the afternoon. (The cul-de-sac turnaround at the end of the street is for busses only.) When dropping students off in the morning, parents should either park in the lot and walk their children across the street or pull up to the drop off walkways south of the main school entrance. Parents picking up children at the end of the day should be aware that busses are also arriving and leaving at the same time. Parents should yield to the busses in order to keep them on schedule for the rest of the school district. For the safety of your children, we ask that parents be patient when either dropping off or picking up students and not double park, blocking traffic and expecting their child to step between cars in order to reach them or the sidewalk.

Change of plans - office notification Change of plans - office notification

Changes in bus dismissal for students

Children are listed on bus lists based on the 2 locations designated on the transportation registration form (home and a daycare facility). The form lists the locations and specific days children have changes. Children shoule be picked up at their scheduled location. We realize that emergencies do develop that require last minute changes in transportation. These must be approved by the administration, but cannot be a different bus from the 2 designated locations.

Changes in dismissal for students (walkers)

    1. In the morning, write a note to the school and have your child give it to their classroom teacher stating the needed change. Written notes are to be sent if a child does or does not take a bus or will be going home to another student’s house. Notes are needed from BOTH sets of parents, the sending and the receiving parent, so that neither parent gets a “surprise visitor” or gets worried thinking that their child is lost.

    2. It is very important you, as the parent, tell your child the change in plans when giving them the note. Frequently children are not aware of the change although the parent knew this prior to the day the change is to occur.

    3. If a phone call must be made by a parent regarding an emergency change in dismissal, the office must be contacted before 1:00 in the afternoon. Due to the many demands on the office personnel and teachers, we cannot ensure that messages will get to your child at the last minute. Classrooms and the office are very busy places especially at the end of the day.

**Please keep in mind that frequent changes daily or weekly in your child’s end of the day plans are confusing for your child and the school.

Students who participate in any after school programs will be kept at school unless a parent/guardian notifies the school that the child will not be attending the program that day.

Daily Snack Information Daily Snack Information

For health and sanitary reasons, Franzen students are only allowed to bring fresh fruit or fresh vegetables for their morning snack.

Lost and Found Lost and Found

Checking the lost and found is a helpful way to retrieve misplaced items. Parents and students should regularly visit the designated lost and found area. Commonly found items include jackets, lunchboxes, and water bottles. It's beneficial to label belongings with the student's name to increase the chances of recovering lost items. Regularly checking the lost and found helps reduce clutter and ensures students have their necessary belongings.

    Birthday Celebrations Birthday Celebrations

Students may only distribute birthday invitations at school if they are inviting their entire classroom of boys and/or entire classroom of girls. Students are not allowed to leave their class to deliver invitations to other classrooms. Students may only bring non-food items to share with their classmates.
