Dear God,

We thank You for the gift of fathers, grandfathers, and all male role models who guide, support, and care for us each day.

Bless them with wisdom, patience, strength, and joy as they nurture and encourage those entrusted to their care. May they know how valued and appreciated they are, and may their love, example, and faith continue to inspire the children in their lives.

Help us to show our gratitude not only today, but throughout the year. May Your blessings be upon them always.

Amen

PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Happy Father's Day

Wishing all fathers, grandfathers, and special male caregivers a wonderful Father's Day this Sunday. We hope you feel celebrated and appreciated for the important role you play in the lives of your children and families.

This week, our Kindy and Pre-Primary students enjoyed special activities with their fathers and father figures. Many children also visited the Father's Day stalls to select gifts for their loved ones. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Sheahan for coordinating the gifts and to our P&F for once again running the stalls so smoothly.

Congratulations to Devin Reddy and his father Alyx for winning the raffle, which is a voucher at Café Elixir, donated by Sabine Winton MLA.

Australian Education Assistants Appreciation Week

This week we recognise and celebrate our Education Assistants and thank them for the outstanding work they do in supporting the students in our school community.

Their dedication helps students build confidence, experience success, and develop a genuine sense of belonging. We are grateful for the care, patience, professionalism, and commitment each of our Education Assistants brings to their role every day.

Faction Sports Carnival

Our Sports Carnival will take place across the next two Fridays.

Next Friday afternoon, selected students from Years 3 to 6 will participate in the Championship Field Events for jumps and throws.

On Friday 18 September, we will hold our Faction Sports Carnival for students from Pre-Primary to Year 6. With a focus on participation and enjoyment, all students will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of events throughout the day.

The Kindy Sports Carnival will be held on Wednesday 16 September in the afternoon.

The P&F will also be running a cake stall during the main carnival on 18 September. We kindly ask families to consider donating cakes, biscuits, slices, or other baked goods to support this fundraising initiative.

Book Fair

Book Week was filled with fun and excitement, with students enjoying a range of activities including the dress-up parade, colouring competition, quizzes, bookmark guessing jar, and special breakfast events.

Throughout next week, we will be hosting a Book Fair in the Library. Families are warmly invited to visit during the following times:

· Tuesday to Thursday and Friday morning

o Morning: 8:00am to 8:25am

o Afternoon: 2:30pm to 3:45pm

We encourage families to come along and explore the wonderful selection of books on offer.

Perth Multicultural Healthlink

A couple of newsletters ago, I wrote about an organisation called Multicultural Futures, which provides a range of health-related support services for families who are new to Australia and for whom English is not their first language.

Their services include helping families connect with general practitioners who speak their language, linking families with important services such as Centrelink, Medicare and mental health support providers, and offering access to free interpreter services.

Representatives from Multicultural Futures will visit our school next Friday - September 11 from 8:30am and be available to speak with any families who wish to talk with them.

Collaborative Conferences

During Term 3, we offer collaborative conferences for parents and teachers to discuss student progress and learning goals.

If you or your child's teacher would like to arrange a meeting, please refer to the information included in this newsletter regarding available dates and times.

Open Night and Performing Arts Concert

Our Open Night and Performing Arts Concert will take place on Wednesday 16 September from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Families are invited to visit classrooms and view some of the wonderful learning that has taken place throughout the term. Commencing at 6:30pm, students in our School Choir, Recorder Ensemble, Band, and Dance Team will perform the items they have prepared for the Catholic Performing Arts Festival.

It promises to be a fantastic celebration of learning, creativity, and community.

Student Safety at Pick-Up Time

Like all schools, we experience some traffic congestion during busy periods. While the challenges at SJPII CPS are relatively minor and short-lived, student safety remains our highest priority.

For the safety of all children, I ask parents and caregivers to:

· Drive slowly and carefully around the school grounds and car parks, particularly during drop-off and pick-up times.

· If you are parking your vehicle, please walk your children to the car rather than calling them across the car park.

· Children should only cross the Kiss and Drive area independently when using the designated crossing.

· Please remember that the front car park is reserved for families with children in Pre-Kindergarten to Pre-Primary.

Children waiting in the Kiss and Drive area are supervised, and traffic generally eases considerably by approximately 3:05pm, with all students collected by 3:10pm.

When collecting children from Kiss and Drive, there is often a line of vehicles waiting at the entrance. Where possible, if there is a queue extending onto Laricina Bend, please consider driving through and using one of the angled parking bays to assist with traffic flow.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and ongoing support in helping us keep all students safe.

Recently at OSHClub children were working on their Rainbow Serpent project thanks to a fantastic suggestion by one of our parents. Together they drew the serpent, cut it out and in order to take ownership of their project, decorated it with their hand prints, We look forward to hanging it up in our room for everyone to see.

We have also introduced a new Rise and Shine Breakfast Club in the mornings, with Waffle Wednesdays proving popular. Children are engaging their literacy and mathematical skills whilst getting to enjoy the delicious product of their hard work."
