Class Placement- Parent Input Form
During the month of May, we will begin the process of class placement for next year. We take great care in this process to ensure that each class is well balanced. Our goal is to provide your child with the best possible academic, social, and emotional environment to promote an optimal learning experience.
The teachers and I meet for many sessions, as we compose classes. We know your children well, their friendships, and the teaching styles of our faculty. When constructing a classroom, we look at many different factors including learning abilities, peer relationships, class size, strengths, challenges, diversity, as well as other factors, to create classrooms that foster social and academic development for all children. As in the past, all classes will be heterogeneous, meaning they will reflect various abilities.
2026-27 Parent Class Placement Input Form
As in the past, we only accept feedback regarding a specific teacher if a sibling has had that teacher in the past. Please understand that you cannot request specific teachers, as it would be inequitable. If there is information you would like us to consider, please complete this form no later than May 1st. We value the importance of this process, and work very thoughtfully to compose our classes each year.
If your child will not be returning to Rye Neck Schools in September, please notify Jeannine Teter, jteter@ryeneck.org, if you have not already done so.
Class placement information will be released in mid/late August. Thank you for your continued support.
Save the Date
April is Poetry Month! You are invited to join us for one of our most special traditions as we celebrate the end of Poetry Month with Poetry on the Patio.
Families are invited to join during your child’s Library period. Please save the date for your child’s class. We understand that due to working schedules, not everyone will be able to join. Please don’t worry– this is geared towards the students, and having them celebrate their learning and love of poetry.
See the class Poetry on the Patio schedule here.
Spotlight
April is Poetry Month, and we are excited to celebrate the joy of poetry! Our DW vending machine has been specially stocked with poems for students to enjoy.
During their library visit this month, each student is receiving a coin to use in the vending machine. Instead of books, they’ll “purchase” a poem to take with them—something to read, enjoy, and hopefully inspire their own creativity.

Early Pick-up & Student Absences
When picking up your child early, please notify the main office by phone or email in advance. Early dismissal should take place prior to 2:30. After 2:30, we ask that you to wait until the regular time since staff are assisting and preparing for student dismissal.
Student absences should be sent to: dwattendance@ryeneck.org. Please let your child's teacher know as well. Thank you!
