Principal's Corner
Dear Pinehurst Families,
As we welcome the month of April, we are excited to embrace the opportunities that come with a new season and the final stretch of our school year!
With Michigan’s ever-changing spring weather, we kindly ask that students come to school dressed in layers each day. Mornings can be chilly while afternoons may warm up significantly, and being prepared helps students stay comfortable and focused on learning throughout the day.
April also marks the beginning of our final marking period. This is an important time for all of our students to stay focused, motivated, and committed to finishing the school year strong. We encourage families to continue supporting good habits at home—regular attendance, completing assignments, and maintaining a positive attitude toward learning.
At Pinehurst, we remain grounded in our Capturing Kids’ Hearts approach, and this month we are focusing on the character trait of Perseverance. Perseverance means continuing to try even when things are challenging. We are encouraging our students to push through difficulties, stay determined, and take pride in their effort and growth. This mindset is especially important as we work through the last marking period together.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can help our students finish the year with confidence, resilience, and success.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Anne Bennett

If the school raises $500+, the highest earning classroom earns a pizza party.
Family Math Night
Join us for some fun math activates. We have games your student can take home to play.
PLUS....We are having tacos for dinner!
Walking Club
We’re excited to announce that Pinehurst will be starting a new Walking Club (during recess) for our students!
As part of this initiative, students will have tickets that are punched for each lap they complete. These tickets can be turned in for small prizes, making it a fun and rewarding way to stay active.
This program is part of our ongoing effort to encourage healthier lifestyle choices and promote physical activity in a positive, engaging way. We look forward to seeing our students enjoy the benefits of movement, fresh air, and friendly motivation.
Let’s get walking, Pinehurst!

Perserverence
What is Perseverance?
Perseverance is the willingness and ability to keep going when things are tough. People who persevere show steadfastness and give the extra effort needed to do something, despite how hard it is or how long it takes to reach the goal.
Students who successfully demonstrate perseverance may exhibit the following behaviors:
• Resists the urge to give up and puts the time in to figure out solutions to problems
• Reframes negative situations. Says phrases like, “I’m not good at this….YET!”
• Displays positive self-talk
• Encourages others to finish strong during difficult tasks
• Acknowledges mistakes but uses them as opportunities to grow and get better
Time for School
The most successful students come to school everyday, on time, and ready to learn. We want our Pinehurst students to enjoy every benefit of learning. Parents, one of your most important jobs is to make sure your child is at school and on time every day (unless they are sick) for the entire day to maximize your child's academic and social growth.

School Expectations
Mt. Morris Schools has a commitment to teaching positive behaviors that are expected in school. At Pinehurst we teach the Three Bs: Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Responsible. We teach what this looks like in different areas around the school. We also constantly and consistently praise and acknowledge positive behaviors. Please make sure to read pages 8-14 in the student handbook on our website about positive behavior support and disciplinary measures.
Bus Behavior
Please know that riding a bus is a privilege. All students must adhere to the bus expectations located in the student handbook on the building's website. Failure to follow these rules may result in permanent removal from the bus. It is vital for our drivers to be able to concentrate on the road at all times to make sure students arrive to school and home safely.
