Wiggin Street Parent Update
November 7, 2025
Better Together and Reaching for the Stars!
Dear Wiggin Street Families,
We have enjoyed seeing so many of you at Parent/Teacher Conferences—thank you for partnering with us to best serve your student. We are proud of the growth your children are showing and appreciate the conversations around meeting specific needs. If at any time this year you’d like to check in on your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, please join us for Donuts with Grownups at 8:00 a.m. in the gym. Immediately following, around 9:10 a.m., we will hold a Veterans Day Flag Ceremony on the front lawn (weather permitting). All are welcome, and we especially invite any Veterans in attendance to be recognized.
Warm regards,
Christy Grandstaff
Principal, Wiggin Street Elementary
Thank you!
We appreciate all of the parents that helped provide food for teachers! The pizza, soups, salads, and desserts made our long days so much brighter!
Donuts with Grown-Ups & Veterans Day Observance
Donuts with Grown-Ups
Please join us on Tuesday, November 11th at 8:00 a.m. in the gym for a special morning together! Donuts, juice, and coffee will be provided for students and their grown-ups to enjoy.
Immediately following, at 9:10 a.m., we will hold a Veterans Day Observance Flag Ceremony on the front lawn. All are welcome to attend as we honor and recognize the Veterans in our community. We are grateful for the service and sacrifice of those who have served our country.
Veterans Day Flag Ceremony
We will be holding a Flag Ceremony—weather permitting—on the morning of Tuesday, November 12th in observance of Veterans Day. We warmly invite any Veterans who are available to attend so that you may be recognized and honored for your service.
The ceremony will take place on the front lawn around 9:10 a.m. and will include the flag raising, Pledge of Allegiance, poems, and the National Anthem.
This special event coincides with our “Donuts with Grown-Ups” gathering, which begins at 8:00 a.m. in the gym. All are welcome to join us for both events as we celebrate community, family, and patriotism together.
Wiggin Street's Little Free Library
Our Little Free Library Has Been Restored!
We are excited to share that our Little Free Library has been beautifully repaired after being damaged in a windstorm last school year. The door was carefully reconstructed by Mr. Eilbacher, and Logan Moore, a Wiggin Street alum and employee at Moore Roofing LLC, added a sturdy metal roof. Finally, Chopper added a fresh coat of stain this week, giving the Library new life and warmth.
We are so grateful to these wonderful men for donating their time and talent to bring our Little Free Library back to life!
The Little Free Library is a place where anyone may take a book or share a book. It operates on the honor system—there’s no need to leave a book in order to borrow one. We are always happy to accept book donations to help keep our shelves full and our community reading!

Lt. Gov. Tressel's Visit to Wiggin Street: “Macte virtute”
Lt. Gov. Tressel's Team Fitness Challenge: Wednesday Morning Fitness
Wellness Wednesday
This week, Bryn Carrigan, a senior at Kenyon College, led yoga sessions with our students on Wednesday morning. It was a wonderful turnout, and the activity helped students start their day centered and ready to learn!
Next week, we look forward to welcoming back the Kenyon Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams for another fun and energetic visit—a highlight our students always enjoy!
Art to Remember
The Art to Remember fundraiser continues through November 14th. Don't forget to order a special keepsake of your child's artwork.
Lost and Found
It's that time of year! Please remind your child to look at the Lost in Found that is in the hallway leading to the cafeteria for their lost items. Thanks for your help!

Food for the Hungry Drive
Wiggin Street will be participating in the annual Food for the Hungry drive from November 17-21. Each class will have a collection box. Students can contribute non-perishable food or monetary donations. The Top 10 items needed for our local pantries include Canned meat, Beef stew/hearty soup, Pasta, pasta sauce, instant potatoes, instant rice, Hot/cold cereal, peanut butter, canned fruit & vegetables.
Though non-food donations are welcome, cash donations are encouraged because $1.00 -- donated is equivalent to $4.56 of buying power through the Mid-Ohio Collective. Checks should be made payable to Food For The Hungry. All donations collected in each school will stay in the community in which they were donated. These students are asked to demonstrate the idea that no one is too young to make a difference and that the community is better when we work together!
As in the past, the classroom in each participating school that contributes the highest number of food items per student will be treated to a pizza party sponsored by Psi Iota Xi.
The top donor from each school will be honored in the Food For The Hungry broadcast at the Knox County Memorial Building on Friday, Dec. 12. The students will be recognized on our live video stream at www.mvnu.tv, as well as on 100.9 FM and 13WMVO, with reports given on WNZR and 93.7 the Super Q.
To learn more about FFTH, donate, or find photos, videos, and more, visit www.FoodForTheHungryCares.org. To volunteer with FFTH, call or text Kathy Brechler at 740-398-2408. The 2025 FFTH Live Broadcast will take place on Friday, Dec. 12 at the Memorial Theater inside the Knox Memorial. This is a Knox County tradition you won’t want to miss!
