National Merit Semifinalists
Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School is excited to announce that several exceptional BBHHS students have received the prestigious academic recognition of National Merit Semi-Finalists for the 2026 academic year. Please join us in recognizing Chris Banto, Aksh Dantal, John Dulay, Cole Hileman, Alton Hirt, Carina Kosla, Lydia Smith and Gabrielle Vitantonio as National Merit Semifinalists.
These students underwent a rigorous selection process to qualify as a 2027 National Merit Semifinalist. They excelled in the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), the initial screening tool utilized by earning a Selection Index score that placed them among the highest-scoring students in the nation. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Congratulations to these outstanding Bees.
This year, Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School will once again offer the PSAT/NMSQT to our junior class on Thursday, October 8th.
Naturalization Ceremony Held at BBHHS
This week, Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School was honored to host a United States Naturalization Ceremony. The Honorable Suzana Koch, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Ohio, presided over the ceremony and shared her perspective as the child of immigrants to our nation.
BBHHS students enrolled in Government and American Legal Systems had the unique opportunity to observe a federal court proceeding while our school welcomed 22 new American citizens and their families as they took the Oath of Allegiance. The event was sponsored by BBHHS Student Government and led by Mr. Jonah Pichette. We are proud to provide our students with this memorable opportunity to see citizenship, government, and our legal system in action.
Senior Parent Night
On Monday, September 14th, we will host a Senior Parent Night at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium to cover the pivotal role the parent/guardian plays in the college search and application process.
Guidance Department Update
College and Career Counselors visited Senior English classes this past week to share pertinent information needed for graduation, the college application process, requesting and securing letters of recommendation, applying for financial aid, completing the Common Application, and much more. Please check with your senior to learn about the important information and resources that were shared with students this past week.
HB 123 Social Inclusion “55-Minute Colony Schedule”
Wednesday, September 16th is our first HB 123 Colony of the year. We will follow a “55-minute Colony Period Schedule” that day. During colony, students will participate in state-approved Social Inclusion Curriculum from Sandy Hook Promise. Students are required to attend colony periods and are not permitted to have Open Campus during periods 3 or 4 on Extended colony days. Students who have Open Campus should report to study hall or the media center on these days.
Any parent who wishes to opt their student out of the HB 123 Social Inclusion Colony must complete the Google Form attached here (Opt Out Form) by Tuesday, September 15th. Any student who is opted out of Colony must report to the cafeteria during Colony time for a quiet study hall. Students are not permitted to leave for Open Campus if a parent opts them out of the colony activities. Parents can find information pertaining to HB 123 and the Sandy Hook Promise “Start With Hello” Curriculum by visiting either of the websites linked in this communication.
If you have questions pertaining to the opt-out process, please contact our Student Behavioral Wellness & Prevention Services Supervisor Megan Boulton at (440)740-4729.
Homecoming 2026
Homecoming 2026 is almost here and we could not be more excited to celebrate an energy-filled week of school spirit, community, and time-honored traditions! This year's theme is "A Night Under the Stars" as we hope to once again host our Homecoming dance held on Saturday, September 26th from 7:00-10:00 pm outdoors at our stadium (weather permitting).
Important information regarding Homecoming 2026 was sent to families this week in our Homecoming Bulletin. We encourage all students and families to review the bulletin carefully and be aware of the important dates, expectations, and procedures outlined as we prepare for Homecoming.
A few key reminders: Homecoming Dance tickets will go on sale Wednesday, September 16, through Hometown Ticketing. Additionally, the Assistant Principals’ Office is now accepting Guest Dance Affidavits for students who plan to bring a non-BBHHS student to the dance. Families are strongly encouraged to complete and submit guest affidavits early to ensure they are processed prior to the dance and ticket deadlines. We are looking forward to another great Homecoming at BBHHS!

New Pay to Participate Resource
Have questions about where Pay-to-Participate fees go for athletics, clubs, and co-curricular activities? Find the system a little confusing? Wonder where that money goes anyway?
The BBHCSD Treasurer’s Office has created a new resource to help families better understand Pay-to-Participate. This resource provides a transparent overview of the program, including how the fee structure works, where Pay-to-Participate dollars go, and how those funds are used to support student opportunities and programming.
We encourage families to check out this new page on our district website to learn more about how Pay-to-Participate works and where your fees go. IF you have questions about the page or pay to particpate, please contact District Treasurer, Craig Yaniglos.
Seal of Biliteracy Class of '27 and '28
Students in the Class of '27 or '28 who are highly proficient in a world language, may qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy. This is a difficult seal to earn as you will be tested in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, and near native understanding of the world language is required. Testing will occur in the Spring, and it will be offered here at BBHHS. You may be required to pay for this testing process.
If you are interested and would like to be considered for testing, please complete this FORM no later than Friday, October 3rd. Completing this form is required to be considered for Spring testing.
If you have any questions, please let me know, or speak to your World Language teacher or Mrs. Izzo.

This Week at BBHHS
It may have been a shortened week at BBHHS but that did not mean BBHHS was quiet, in fact, it was quite the opposite! Our Boys Soccer team had another outstanding week where they won all their games on the schedule once again, including one against arch rival North Royalton for the coveted Honey Pot in front of a large crowd for youth soccer night, congratulations Bees! Capping off the boys week was the section of Senior goal keeper, Bruno Berlin, as the GASSCA Player of the Week! Congratulations, Bruno!
Our Girls Soccer team was not to be outdone as they also went head-to-head with the Bears this week in a road game. The Bees accomplished what no other Lady Bees soccer team has been able to do the past four years and trapped the Bears 2-1. The Bees pushed the pass and clamped down the field suffocating the Bears offense. Congratulations to both our soccer teams on a strong week of play!
Executive officers from our Student Government, Nicky Toth, Adelyn Rahe, Grace Kucharski, and Landon Mroczka were joined by Student Visionary of the Year Candidates Janet Hayes, Loren Naso, and Danielle Zetts for a student leadership conference hosted by Medina High School. The conference was sponsered by Herf and Jones and helped our student leaders plan goals for the school year that will help build legacy of positive impact. We are grateful the group represented BBHHS and are excited to see what they implement from the conference this year.
Several of our Bees also participated in the first Bee Your Best Bistro held at BBHHES. Our HS Bees are invited to join our youngest Bees for lunch to talk about what it takes to be a good student and citizen. This is always a great experience for our students to interact with our youngest students to talk about what it means to be a Bee. It is always one of the favorite activities our students report back on and we thank our ES staff for welcoming our students to the campus!
Finally, our Guidance Department hosted a new student luncheon in the Cleveland Metroparks for all of our new to the BBHCSD students. We have a great group of new Bees this year who enjoyed talking with other new students, longtime bees, and our staff about their experiences at BBHHS thus far. We will continue to host events for our new bees throughout the year to help make them feel at home in their new school as soon as possible! Thank you to Mrs. Jonozzo and Mrs. Milano for their leadership of this event.
