Updates
We are looking forward to seeing all of our Swift students together again on Monday! Our schedule has shifted some to accommodate school-wide changes. All Swifties will still arrive and settle in in their original cores. Our ⅞ classes will be held in the community room and auditorium. Our team will eat lunch in the cafeteria at 12:45, so they should bring a healthy snack for earlier in the day. Our Wednesday remote schedule remains the same.
Other notes include:
Student-led literature groups begin Wednesday at our usual literature time
Band lessons start on Thursday
Spring Sports Registration and Details
Baseball and softball begin Monday, April 5th
Track begins Monday, April 12th
All Swifties should bring their Greensheets home on Fridays now
The lost & found bins, school-wide and in Swift, contain a plethora of water bottles and winter gloves. They will be donated to the Williston Food Shelf if not claimed before spring break.
If you have any questions about these changes, please reach out to your child's core teacher.

UVM Extension 4-H
UVM Extension 4-H has just announced some new virtual programs for youth and adults!
Please share the following opportunities others.....many start soon!
4-H World Changers - Learn to Code!: From cartoons to movies to video games, animations are everywhere. Join us for this 6 session series to unlock your inner animator! You will use computer science to create your own custom animation. Open to all youth from Vermont and beyond in grades 5-12. Sessions run Thursdays April 8 - May 13 from 7-8 pm EST. Learn more here.
Virtual Teen Science Cafes: we will be starting our Spring Series on Wednesday, March 31! Check out the topics here. For grades 7-12.
Citizenship Washington Focus: Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) is National 4 H Council’s premier leadership and citizenship program for high school age students. While it typically takes place in Washington, D.C., this year it will be held in a virtual format. Vermont 4-H will be offering a full scholarship to 8 teens to participate! Open to all youth in grades 9-12. Learn more and apply by April 30.
Askable Adult Training:"Kids are not okay," Governor Scott said during the Feb. 26 statewide COVID press briefing. Around 70% of Vermont youth reported in a recent survey that the COVID-19 pandemic made their anxiety/worry, mood or loneliness “a little” or “a lot” worse. And 38% of youth reported that they felt difficulties were piling up so high that they sometimes or often could not overcome them in the past month. Now more than ever our youth need askable adults! This training is designed for adults who are interested in becoming more “askable” and supportive for the youth in their lives. Open to all adults, educators, summer programs and camp staff, parents, youth development professionals and youth group volunteers. Registration will be capped at 35 participants; participants must attend both sessions May 18 & 20 from 11:30 am - 1 pm.
These programs are FREE but registration is required.
Many more programs are posted on our website....

Girls Tech!
Hello,
I’m excited to announce that Vermont Works for Women (VWW) and Burlington Technical Center (BTC) are partnering again to present Girls Tech! Based on feedback we received, this year’s event will be held in a live, virtual setting on Wednesday, May 5 from 10:00 – 11:00am.
Girls Tech is a free career exploration event for middle school girls and gender non-conforming youth in grades 7-8 from BTC’s sending region. Girls Tech exposes students to careers that are non-traditional for women, to help them make more informed decisions about high school course selection and career pathways. This event is open to all girls and gender non-conforming youth in BTC's sending area, not just those interested in going to BTC!
I have attached a PDF of the student registration form to this email. Please have students complete the form, and then register them online at this link. When registering students, students are asked to rank their program preferences. When all students have been registered, VWW will use students’ preferences to create the breakout groups for the live, virtual event on May 5. Though each student may not receive their first choice, we will do our best to place each student in a program that they want.
Registration is open until Wednesday, April 28, 2021 –OR- until our maximum capacity is reached, whichever comes first. We will notify you by email if we reach capacity before 4/28.
For questions, or if you have more than 15 interested students, please contact me at mnelson@vtworksforwomen.org.
Best,
Melissa
