Community info Community info

Hi,

We are having a great start to our school year! We welcomed out K and Pre-K students this week and they are a delight! Our school community is full!

Help Our School by Completing the CNEEB Form (formerly Free/Reduced lunch form)

Even with Free Breakfast and Lunch for Every SPS Student, all SPS families are encouraged to complete the Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit (CNEEB) form.

Why?

  • It may qualify students for meal benefits and reduced fees.
  • It helps schools receive funding based on student need.
  • Complete information helps SPS plan and allocate resources effectively.

Don't think you'll qualify? No problem. The form now includes an option to "Decline Benefits.”. Submitting that response still helps us maintain complete and accurate information.

The best data is data that is complete.

Please take a few minutes to complete the form today. CNEEB

If your student is sick or has an appointment, please call 206 252 5324 or email greenlake@seattleschools.org to let us know. If you have a change in plans for pickup at the end of the day please email greenlake@seattleschools.org or call the main office prior to 2:30. You can also email the teacher but they may be busy teaching and not see it, so calling the office is best.

Please send your student to school every day! We know that regular attendance is truly important to learning. If you child is vomiting, has diarrhea, or a fever of over 100 degrees, please do NOT send them.

Principal Chat and Connect

September 18 at 9 am in the library

This is informal event to connect with Principal McFarland and AP Ms. Gray. We will do some with specific themed conversations later in the year, but this one is just a time to bring questions and ideas to the principals! We will provide donuts and coffee!

Open House- Celebrating literacy!

5-7pm September 24

FOOD PROVIDED

We will have dinner available at 5pm and a presentation regarding our new ELA curriculum, Emerge! from 5:30-6 in the cafeteria while everyone is eating. After the presentation, kids can do a scavenger hunt to show their families around and learn about what programs and opportunities school has to offer. If they complete their map they can get a little prize on their way out! The night ends at 7pm!

VACCINE CLINIC

Our upcoming flu and COVID vaccine clinic on 9/28. I’ve included the registration link below and a few registration details:

  • We accept most insurance, but are unable to accept Cigna, Tricare, and some out-of-state Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.
  • Each patient needs their own appointment, in the patient’s name, with their individual information.
    • A family of four will need four appointments.
    • If you cannot register all family members in the same appointment window, register the remaining members in the closest available time window. You may still visit the clinic together at one time.
  • Cash rates for the 2026 season are $200 per COVID vaccine and $60 per flu vaccine.
  • We are providing the updated 2026-27 Moderna COVID vaccine and Flucelvax trivalent preservative-free flu vaccines.
  • Parents and students can get their shots at the same time if you wish. Parents should come and get their student at their appointment time for their shots as we do not get a list of who signed up due to medical confidentiality, so we at the school cannot call students down to get their shots. Older students may be able to know their appointment time and go on their own, but younger students definitely need a parent to be with them.

Volunteering!

Application for New Volunteers

Renewal for Returning Volunteers

Questions?

Yah, uh… why now? That all-caps seems a little harsh. Because it takes about 2 weeks to be approved, and our first big volunteer ask (the Walk-&-Roll-a-Thon) is coming up on October 2nd, and for fifth Grade families the 5th Grade Campout is Oct 6th and we need chaperones!

I’m confused by this process… what “Tier” do I need to be? For almost all volunteering at the school you will just need to be a “Tier 1” volunteer. BUT!!! If you would like to chaperone the 5th grade campout this year (Oct 6th - 8th) you’ll need to be a “Tier 2” volunteer.

I volunteered last year… is my registration still good? If you’ve done a new registration/background check within the last 2 years you’re good to go, and if you’re not sure you can do any of these things:

  • Email Remy, the PTA President: ptapresident@greenlakedragons.org

  • Email Bev Denny in the front office: brdenny@seattleschools.org

  • Log in to the SPS volunteer portal and look for “Volunteer Status” in a big box on the left side of the page

Sorry but… these questions are ridiculous and I’m still confused. It’s all good! We got you! You can email our school’s volunteer liaison - Bev Denny in the front office brdenny@seattleschools.org or the pta president ptapresident@greenlakedragons.org with questions about volunteering and the registration process at any time.

Community Costume Drive!!!

Donate your clean, gently used costumes for collection Monday, Sept. 14 to Friday, October 2.

Have students give to their teacher, or drop off in the Front Office.

Please have all pieces bundled together, and labeled with approximate size/age
