Principal's Message: Understanding How We Support Student Behavior Principal's Message: Understanding How We Support Student Behavior

At Mt. Vernon, we use two tools to help support student behavior and keep families informed: Major Office Discipline Referrals and Husky Resets (minor referrals).

A Husky Reset is used when a staff member is working with a student on a lower-level behavior. This might include things like reminders, reteaching expectations, or problem-solving with the student. The goal is to address concerns early and help students learn from the situation. Families will be contacted so you’re aware and can support your child at home as well.

A Major Office Discipline Referral is used for more serious concerns that require involvement from the principal or assistant principal. In these cases, school administration will investigate, follow up, and communicate next steps with families.

In both situations, communication with families is an important part of our process. Our goal is to partner with you to support your child’s success and ensure a safe, positive learning environment for all students.

A big thank you to our amazing music teacher, Emily Miller, for her hard work in preparing students and bringing this performance to life. We appreciate all the time and care you put into creating such a memorable event for our school community!
