GMS Gazette
FEBRUARY 14, 2025
Dear Middle School Families,
This week, all middle schoolers completed a lesson about communication. Students talked about the ways they communicate and what healthy communication looks like. As a part of this, they shared positive ways they can communicate within our school community. We are
excited to continue with monthly lessons which will lead up to a middle school community day on April 8th.
On Tuesday, our Youth Council attended a leadership retreat as part of the Essex County Asset Builder Network. During weekly meetings at lunch on Tuesdays, students are planning for our Community Day on April 8th. Students will be able to participate in activities that go along with the themes of our lessons which include respect, teamwork, communication, empathy, and being an upstander.
We are thankful to the PTO who has sponsored this work with Sam Drazin who will be returning to help support the day on April 8th. Sam is going to be working with our Youth Council to support them in their planning of this special day.
I hope you all have a wonderful relaxing vacation with your children. We look forward to seeing them back at school on February 24th.
Best,
Hope Doran

iReady Mid Year Assessment Data
We are reaching out to inform you that the results of the mid year year assessments, i-Ready Diagnostic (for grades 7-8) have now been uploaded to Aspen. These reports give insights into your child’s learning progress and help us support their academic growth. You will find instructions on how to access these reports below.
i-Ready Diagnostic Report
The i-Ready Diagnostic report gives a snapshot of your child’s performance in reading and mathematics. This assessment is aligned with grade-level standards, including content and skills that your child may not have encountered yet at mid year. As a result, these scores identify both strengths and areas for growth as we move forward. The next i-Ready assessment window is at the end of the year, and you will receive a growth report at that time, allowing you to see your child’s progress.
If you have any questions about your child’s progress or need help understanding the reports, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their teacher. We are here to support you and your child every step of the way.
Thank you for your partnership in fostering a successful learning experience!
Best,
Your Building Administration
Jeff Carovillano and Hope Doran
