On behalf of the staff at Biddeford Regional Center of Technology (BRCOT), we are excited to welcome both our new and returning students to the 2026–2027 school year. We look forward to another year filled with opportunities for students to develop technical skills, explore career pathways, and prepare for future success in college, careers, and the workforce. Included within this newsletter are a variety of important documents and resources that you may find helpful as we begin the school year. We encourage both students and families to review the enclosed information carefully to ensure a smooth and successful start.

Please see the section regarding BRCOT's start day by sending schools below. We would also like to invite you to our BRCOT Open House on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This event provides an excellent opportunity for students and families to meet instructors, tour our facilities, and learn more about the programs and opportunities available at BRCOT.

Our staff will be available throughout the evening to answer questions and provide information about program expectations, supplies, certifications, internships, dual enrollment opportunities, and student experiences.

We are proud of the opportunities BRCOT provides and look forward to partnering with students and families throughout the year. Together, we will continue to build the skills, knowledge, and experiences that prepare students for success beyond high school.

Thank you for choosing BRCOT. We are excited to begin another outstanding year with you!

Best Regards,

Paulette Bonneau, Director

Mike Bailey, Asst. Director

Personal Electronic Devices Personal Electronic Devices

As of August 1, 2026, Maine has enacted a state law addressing student use of cell phones, smart watches, and other personal electronic devices during the school day. In response, the Biddeford School Committee has adopted Policy JICJ – Student Use of Cell Phones and Other Electronic Devices, which governs the use of these devices in our schools. This policy aligns with BRCOT’s established practices and procedures and supports our commitment to providing students with a safe, focused, and productive learning environment.

Members of the BRCOT learning community believe that students learn best in classrooms that are free from unnecessary distractions and disruptions. To support student learning and ensure consistent expectations, instructors will require students to place cell phones, smart watches, and other personal electronic devices in designated classroom storage containers upon arrival to class.

Devices must remain turned off and stored for the entire class period. Students will be able to retrieve their devices at the conclusion of class.

We appreciate the support of our students, families, and sending schools as we work together to maintain an environment where students can remain engaged, develop career-ready skills, and make the most of their time at BRCOT. Click below for the behavior response rubric.

Authorized exceptions may be made and documented by the school nurse or building administrator for specific health or safety purposes.
