Lake Maloney Elementary
September 2025
A Message From the Principal
It’s hard to believe September is already here! We are officially through our first few weeks of school at Lake Elementary, and I couldn’t be more proud of the learning already happening across our classrooms. In just these short weeks, I’ve seen Kindergarten students listening for sounds, 5th graders discovering personification in reading, our 4th graders tried so hard on their reading MAZE assessment, and I've seen some incredible Math thinking at every grade level.
This year at Lake, our focus is on Kindness. Together, we are working to sprinkle kindness throughout our school, homes, and community. Studies show that families today often spend less time in meaningful conversations, and small activities can make a big difference in building connections. A great way to open up those conversations with your child while practicing kindness together. Try a few of these at home:
Say “thank you” to someone who helps you.
Hold the door open for a friend, neighbor, or family member.
Write a kind note or draw a picture for someone.
Share a toy, game, or treat.
Compliment someone.
Lend a hand with chores at home without being asked.
Smile at three people today.
Taking just a few minutes to complete these challenges side by side can spark meaningful conversations, strengthen your bond, and show your child how powerful kindness can be.
We are off to a wonderful start here at Lake, and I’m excited for all that’s ahead this year. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if there’s a way we can support your family.
—Mrs. Fleck
