REMINDER!
IF YOU USE OUR CAR LINE, PLEASE READ THIS!
CAR RIDERS: RIGHT TURN ONLY ONTO MEAD
Due to a growing number of car riders, our car line is busier than usual this year. To keep traffic moving smoothly, keep our dismissal and drop-off on schedule, and protect student safety, we're implementing a traffic change.
The exit from the school car rider line onto Mead Road is right turn only during arrival (8:00-8:15) and dismissal (2:50-3:05).
Please plan alternate routes to College Avenue during these peak times to avoid delays.
Please also remember that you may only turn right into the school driveway from Feld for arrival and dismissal.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and our line moving! A big thank you as well to everyone sharing kind words and waves with Mr. Morgan and Mr. Baer while they direct traffic - your patience and community spirit make a huge difference.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SUPERINTENDENT'S STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL REPS!

COFFEE CHAT RECAP
Educational Technology in the K-2 Classroom
Thanks so much to everyone who popped in for our very first Coffee Chat of the year! We loved chatting with you all about what tech looks like at Oakhurst and walking through the CSD Technology Guidelines. We're grateful for your thoughtful questions and your partnership as we navigate all things tech together.
Here’s a quick recap of what we covered:
At Oakhurst, we take an analog-first approach to learning. Guided by research from experts like Jonathan Haidt and Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath, our framework keeps devices strictly supplemental to direct teacher instruction. That means core reading and math instruction focuses heavily on physical books, paper, and handwriting to build deep focus, engagement, and comprehension.
Screens stay out of the picture during lunch, recess, and free time so kids can recharge and connect face-to-face. Across the rest of the school day, screen time is intentionally reserved for required assessments (like Star and CogAT), targeted skill practice (Freckle, Lalilo), and guided research (Epic!, PebbleGo).
