Inclement Weather
Legacy Academy will follow the Elizabeth School District for weather delays and cancellations. Notifications will be sent out via emails, texts, phone calls, social media and will be posted on our website as early as possible.
Everyone should have received the following email today from Jeff Maher with the Elizabeth School District regarding the incoming storm:
Good afternoon ESD community,
We wanted to give you a heads up that our incident command team is going to be monitoring an incoming storm that is expected to hit overnight. The National Weather Service put out an advisory regarding this earlier today. The advisory calls for 3-5 inches of snow and potentially hazardous driving conditions starting at midnight and going through tomorrow at 6 p.m. The advisory mentions hazardous conditions that could "impact the morning commute with potential for slick roads to persist into the evening commute as well."
Our team will be watching this system closely and consulting with our teams on the ground.
Just a reminder, hopefully you saw my email recently that explains our process of notifying the community in the event of a delay/closure. We do our best to "overcommunicate" in these situations. Before you leave in the morning (in case our email/text doesn't go through to your account specifically), please check the following sites for any decisions that could be made regarding the weather:
ESD website: https://www.elizabethschooldistrict.org
ESD Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/esdk12schools/
ESD Nextdoor: https://nextdoor.com/pages/elizabeth-school-district?init_source=copy_link_share
ESD on X: https://x.com/ESDk12
The website will show a new pop-up message on the screen regarding any change in schedule. We will always make it our goal to get all the messaging out about any decision by 5:30 a.m. If you don't receive any messaging and don't see any messages on any of our sites, it simply means the school schedule is normal that day. Thank you and stay warm.

R.O.A.R. Store, Cafeteria & Carpool Volunteers
In this season of gratitude, we want to thank our wonderful school community for your continued support and partnership - your time and donations make a difference for our students and school. A special thank you to those who have already surpassed their volunteer hours. We are so grateful for our families. PTCO supports many events and extra support for our teachers.
Please use the links below to volunteer your time to support our school.
We couldn’t do it without you. Our volunteers are what makes Legacy a great school.
December Art Squad
Cookies & Canvas
Cookies and Canvas will be December 12th from 5-7pm and Saturday, Dec 13th from 1-3pm. If we do not have enough participation to host two days, we will combine the classes on Friday (no class will be held on Saturday).
Cost is $25 per person and will be filled on a first come basis as space is limited. We will need a few volunteers to help set up and clean up. Please use the link to sign up below.
Club/Extracurricular Policies
Our after school club program is expanding to include more opportunities for students to explore new interests. After school clubs give students the opportunity to strengthen friendships, develop new talents and engage in a fun academic manner. Through hands-on activities, teamwork, and problem solving, students strengthen their academic and social emotional skills as well as leadership skills.
Reminders of clubs/extracurricular policies:
Permission Slips: Students must have a signed permission slip form before they can participate.
Payment Policy: Space is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. You are not registered until payment is received and the instructor has verified your application has been received. Refunds will not be given. Example: Your child registered for one club, then decided they want to attend a different club - we will not give a refund.
Date Cancellations: If we have to cancel a date due to weather or other reasons there will NOT be a makeup day.
Pick Up: Please make sure your child is picked up promptly at the end of the scheduled club time. If you are late, your child will go to aftercare and you will incur a fee from after care. Your teacher will let you know where to pick up your child and the time.
Snacks: You may want to send your child an extra snack on club days.
We look forward to providing our students with after school enriching experiences. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to the leader of your club.
Christmas Decorating
Our school looks festive! Thank you Jordan Yurky, Bridger Taylor-Zele and Jace for helping the staff decorate for the Christmas Season. The trees and halls look merry and ready for the holiday season.
Our Kindness Hero Bulletin Board is completed and displayed in our cafeteria. Thank you Michael Carsten, Britt Zappanti and Lillianni for the beautiful fun bulletin board and helping to decorate our school. We celebrate and shine a spotlight on students that go out of their way to help others and show kindness in a fast-paced lunchroom.
