Safety is Important at Endeavor - Metal Detectors and Backpacks
Most you may remember in your child's orientation to Endeavor that we have metal detectors on campus. The detectors are set up for the DAEP school behind the campus and to enhance the safety of everyone at Endeavor. Beginning next week, there will be random days that all Endeavor students will be required to walk through the detector. There have not been any threats of violence at Endeavor to cause the detectors to be utilized. It is purely a proactive action to promote student safety and well-being.
The most obvious benefit of metal detectors at school entrances is the immediate detection of weapons as students and visitors enter the building. In some schools across the country that use detectors, students and guests have been stopped with guns and knives. Schools and universities can take proactive steps to prevent tragic incidents by detecting concealed items on visitors. Investigations can also lead to arrests or treatment to prevent future occurrences.
Again, there have not been any threats of violence against our students. The detectors will be used randomly. With this being said, Endeavor has been tolerant of solid backpacks. No longer will solid backpacks be allowed inside the building. Students will be required to have mesh or clear backpacks. We ask that students comply with Channelivew ISD policy as soon as possible.

We Appreciate Our Custodians!
This week, we recognized our custodians for all the hard they do on our campus to keep it clean for our students. Pictured below from left to right are: Sandra Robledo, Mark Sims, Evelyn Celaya, and Maria Moreno. Thank you ladies!
CPR at EHS
Juniors at EHS were trained on the basics of CPR and AED administration today. EHS Nurse Garza taught the students the importance of CPR.
Tardy Policy at Endeavor
We are having a number of unexcused tardies at Endeavor. To try to put a deterent on this, Endeavor has adopted a new tardy policy. During a week period between Friday and the following Thursday:
- 1st Tardy: Warning
- 2nd Tardy: 2 hour SATURDAY Detention
- 3rd Tardy: 3 hour SATURDAY Detention
- 4th Tardy: 4 Hour SATURDAY Detention
- 5th Tardy: Suspension and Manditory Parent Meeting
If a student is required to attend detention, the student and parent will be sent an email with information concerning how many tardies were accured and how long a detention has been assigned.
Saturday detentions will be at Endeavor statrting at 8:30 AM. Students will have the opportunity for tutorials and/or do school work during this time.
It is important that your child is in class taking advantage of what the Endeavor program can do for them. If you have any questions, please contact the school.
ACT/SAT Testing Info
What is the ACT/SAT test?
Both the SAT and the ACT are nationally administered, standardized tests that help schools evaluate your application and see how prepared you are for college courses. The SAT and ACT generally cover the same topics. Both ACT and SAT scores are used for college admissions decisions and awarding merit-based scholarships. Most colleges do not prefer one test over the other. Neither the SAT nor ACT is harder than the other. Different students tend to do better on one test than the other.
