Recently, I've been receiving reports that parents are approaching other students and/or parents to address behavior issues. Please refrain from addressing other students and/or caregivers on campus. At Bixby we value maintaining all our students safe. When parents attempt to address matters, more often than not, things end negatively, and this can lead to an unsafe environment. Any questions regarding behavior are to be directed to the Principal's Office.

CORE Survey Opens February 6 for Students and Parents

All LBUSD parents/guardians will be invited to complete the annual CORE Survey from February 6 through March 17. Last year, 18% of Bixby families completed the CORE Survey. This year, we're reaching for a 50% completion rate. Please check ParentVue under the Surveys tab for access. If you are having trouble accessing the survey, please stop by the office on Tuesdays or Thursdays and the friendly office staff will gladly help you.

Valet Drop-off

Valet Drop-Off continues to be a success! These are some things we noticed in correlation to initializing a Valet Drop-Off system:

  1. Parking was easier for our families that need to park for hand-to-hand drop off.
  2. Our Crossing Guard noticed that traffic was lighter on Stearns Street.
  3. More students were on time to their classrooms.
  4. Students were greeted with a warm welcome.
  5. The campus was cleared by 8:00am, allowing teachers to begin their instruction.
  6. The gates were secured by 8:00am.

I want to send a special shout-out to the parents and guardians who dedicated a small, but hugely important portion of their mornings to support with the Valet Drop-Off. Your support directly contributed to the outcomes listed above. If you have 15 minutes to spare in making the same kind of impact, you may sign up here. We need the most help from 7:45a-8:00a.

Celebrate!

Our Diagnostic 2 iReady results are in and there's a lot to cheer! For Diagnostic 2, we encouraged our students to set goals for Stretch Growth over Typical Growth.

Typical Growth: The average annual growth for a student at this grade and baseline placement level.

Stretch Growth: An ambitious but attainable level of annual growth which puts below-grade level students on a path towards proficiency and on-grade level students on a path to achieve/maintain advanced proficiency levels.

Below, you will find images of both our ELA and Math results. 3rd-5th graders took the ELA Reading diagnostic. 1st-5th graders took the Math iReady diagnostic.

According to the graphs below, 53% percent made "typical growth," while 24% made "stretch growth" in Reading. In Math, 20% of our students made "typical growth," while 5% made "stretch growth." I am so proud of our students for the progress they making and for our teachers who are working so hard to ensure that our students continue to show academic growth.
