Mental Health Awareness Month Activities at Nimitz Middle School & Huntington Park High School

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, which is an important time to focus on the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals. In order to raise awareness about this topic, Nimitz Middle School organized a lunch event for students, where they could interact with Trixy, a service dog at LASUSD. This was a great opportunity for students to learn about the benefits of pet therapy for mental health. In addition to this, students could also participate in a mandala coloring activity, which can be a calming and meditative practice that helps reduce stress and anxiety.

Meanwhile, Huntington Park High School held a period-by-period painting activity for teachers, which was a creative way to promote mental health awareness. Painting can be a therapeutic activity that helps individuals express their emotions and feelings in a nonverbal way. This activity also encouraged teachers to take a break from their busy schedules and focus on their own well-being, which is an important message during Mental Health Awareness Month. Overall, these events were a great way to promote mental health awareness and encourage individuals to prioritize their well-being.

Signing Day at Huntington Park High School

The students were greeted with a warm welcome from their peers, along with teachers, counselors, administrators, and other stakeholders. The school's band and cheer teams were also present, adding to the festive atmosphere and sense of community. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy, as the students reflected on their academic journey and celebrated their achievements. It was a time for the students to cherish the memories they had made, relationships they had built and to look forward to the next chapter in their lives. Overall, the lunch event served as a meaningful experience for all those involved.
