Principal's Message
Dear Ride Families,
As we head into this season of thankfulness, Mrs. Fonville and I want to pause and share just how truly grateful we are for each of you. Your partnership, your support, and the love you pour into our school make Ride the wonderful place it is. Because of you, our students feel lifted, encouraged, and connected.
We are also deeply thankful for our extraordinary staff. Their hearts are big, their dedication is unwavering, and they show up each day ready to love, teach, and inspire our Challengers. They make Ride a place filled with joy, curiosity, and belonging. We are so thankful for our Ride substitutes as well, who are always quick to help out and cover classes whenever there is a need. Their love and dedication are truly priceless!
Gratitude has been a special focus on our morning announcements. We remind students that taking time to notice the good around them—big or small—helps them feel more connected, confident, and joyful.
As we approach the holiday season, we want to gently remind you that Thanksgiving Break will be from November 24th through November 28th. We hope these days give you time to slow down, rest, and enjoy precious moments with the people you love most.
Thank you for trusting us with your children and for allowing us to be a small part of their journey. We are honored and blessed to serve this incredible community.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving,
Laura Collins & Angela Fonville

A short instructional video is provided below with simple steps for making a beautiful snowflake at home.
Once your child completes their creation, please drop it off at the front office or have your child bring it in after the break.
Thank you for helping make our school sparkle this season!

It’s Book Fair Time
We will host a Book Fair on December 10th – 16th in the school library. During the week, the Book Fair is open from 7:30 – 3:00. The Book Fair will be open on the evening of December 12th for Winter Wonderland. Our last day will be Tuesday, December 16th.
We have a great digital payment option that is highly encouraged for students to use. Parents can set up an eWallet for students, deposit money into it, and students will not have to bring money to school. Visit our Book Fair homepage at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/sallykrideelementaryschool
to open up an eWallet account for your child. Any left over money in the eWallet will be put on a gift card for your student to use at future fairs or online. If you have money left over from the last book fair, you can sign in to your ewallet and transfer the money to this book fair. Students can also bring cash or check during the week to purchase books!
Profits from the Book Fair will be used to purchase books for our school library!

How to write a Teacher Achieving Excellence Nomination
- Log in to your account. Navigate to the Conroe ISD Single Sign-On (SSO) page at https://sso.conroeisd.net/ and log in using your parent credentials.
- Access the Parent Access portal. Once logged in, click on "Parent Access".
- Find the nomination form. Select "Communication" from the menu and then click on "Teachers/Staff Excellence".
- Select the staff member. You will be able to search for and select the specific teacher you want to recognize. If you have multiple children, be sure to select the correct student to find the right staff member for that school.
- Write your comments. You can select positive qualities that apply to the teacher and add a personal message in the comments section. To make your nomination most effective, focus on specific examples of their exceptional work.
- Share specific examples. Instead of general praise, describe a particular situation where the teacher went above and beyond. Mention a project that engaged your child, a time they offered extra support, or how they fostered a positive classroom environment.
- Describe the impact. Explain how the teacher's actions benefited your child's learning or well-being. For example, "Mrs. Smith helped my daughter feel more confident about reading by letting her choose books from the classroom library."
- Keep it personal and concise. A heartfelt, specific nomination is more memorable than a long, generic one.
What to highlight in your writing
- Positive impact: How they inspired your child's love for a subject.
- Going above and beyond: When they offered extra help or stayed late to support a student.
- Building a relationship: How they connected with your child on a personal level.
- Communication: If they kept you well-informed and were responsive to your concerns.
- Classroom environment: How they created a positive, supportive, and safe learning space for all students.
Transportation Changes
All transportation changes must be received by 2:00 p.m. Please send all changes of transportation to ridetransportation@conroeisd.net. The e-mail must include the date, your child’s full name, homeroom teacher, bus number (if applicable), and the guardian's full name. All emails must be received before 2:00 p.m. If you submit a transportation change by email, it must go to the email address referenced above; transportation changes should not be emailed directly to the teacher. If an emergency arises, please contact 281-465-2800.
Please send a new email for each day the change occurs. We cannot accept notes for multiple days or with multiple changes. District policy states that a student may only ride the bus they are registered to ride; therefore, students may not have a transportation change to ride a different bus.

SCHOOL HOURS/ATTENDANCE/TARDY POLICY
School hours are 7:55 a.m. - 3:10 p.m. Students must be in their classroom before the 7:55 a.m. bell rings, or they will be considered tardy. Please note that 7:30 a.m. is the earliest time that your child may be dropped off. We do not have staff available to supervise students until that time.
Attendance is vitally important to your child’s current educational growth and future development. Research confirms that attendance is one of the greatest factors contributing to student achievement. Please note that if your child comes in after 9:00 a.m., it will count as an absence unless your child has a medical appointment and brings in a school excuse from the doctor.
Tardy Policy
A student is tardy if not in the classroom at 7:55 a.m. If your child is tardy, parents must sign him/her in at the front office. When a student is tardy, an e-mail will be sent to the student’s guardian for notification.
Volunteer at Ride or any CISD School
We value the contributions you make to Ride to support our outstanding students, teachers, and programs. It is our goal to provide a safe environment for our students and visitors. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the Volunteer Application. This includes working in the classroom, reading to students, working in the library, etc..
BIRTHDAY TREAT GUIDELINES
We love celebrating birthdays at school and welcome birthday treats! To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, we ask that families follow the guidelines outlined in the graphic below. These guidelines help us manage allergies, classroom time, and school policies. Thank you for helping us make birthday celebrations safe and enjoyable for everyone!
LUNCH VISITOR INFORMATION
** Please consider limiting lunch visits to once or twice per month for each student, so that all parents have an opportunity to visit for lunch.
**Please limit the number of visitors to no more than two.
**Students may enjoy lunch with their parents/family only; please do not invite other students to eat lunch with your family.
**Please keep students and other children at the tables with you; do not allow them to run or play during lunch time.
NEW FOR 2025:
**We want to ensure the safety and security of everyone as they enjoy time together while visiting at lunch. If a grandparent or other family member wants to visit your child during lunch, the parent must send in written permission to the front office. The note will only need to be sent in once per school year, and at that time a notation will be made in the visitor system so that the school will have a record of the permission being granted. If a note is not sent, we will call a parent to grant permission before the visitor is allowed to join a student for lunch. Notes can be sent to: cvanloh@conroeisd.net
