This past week was filled with moments that truly highlight the strength of our Lipscomb community. We welcomed over 70 mentors for the kickoff of Academy 4 Fridays, ensuring that every 4th grader had the opportunity to connect with a caring adult and dive into engaging clubs. We also rolled out the red carpet for our Hollywood-Themed Book Bash with United to Learn, where every student walked away with a new book and a big smile. These two incredible events remind us of the power of partnership and the lasting impact it has on our students.

As we look ahead, we are excited to continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. We invite all parents and community members to join us for our Hispanic Heritage Night on October 15 at 5:00 PM in the Lipscomb cafeteria. This evening will be a chance to honor culture, share traditions, and come together in celebration of our diverse community.

We have also included resources for student activities in this week’s newsletter below — another way for families to stay connected and for students to explore new opportunities on campus.

Thank you for your continued support in making Lipscomb a place where our students can thrive!

United to Learn Book Bash!

This past Wednesday, William Lipscomb Elementary and United to Learn partnered to host our Hollywood-Themed Book Bash! Students walked the red carpet, picked out their favorite book, relaxed in the VIP lounge to start reading, and wrapped up with a book-inspired dance party.

Every student on campus went home with a brand-new book — and a big smile! 🎉 Thank you to United to Learn for helping us spread the joy of literacy, and special thanks to School Board Trustee Sarah Weinberg, United to Learn CEO Tim Hise, and Executive Director Aaron Aguirre for joining us in the celebration.

Welcome Academy 4!

This past Friday marked the launch of Academy 4 Fridays at Lipscomb! More than 70 volunteers joined us on campus, making it possible for every 4th grader to be paired with their very own mentor. Students enjoyed clubs such as Golf, Cooking, Money, and Art, and wrapped up the day with hang time alongside their mentors.

A huge thank you to all of our mentors for pouring into our students, and a special shoutout to Aubrie Beysselance, our amazing campus liaison, and Rachel Slusser for coordinating such an incredible first event. We can’t wait to continue this tradition on the last Friday of each month throughout the school year!

Dallas ISD has launched a new app designed to keep families more connected with the district and campuses. By adding William Lipscomb Elementary as your default campus, you’ll have quick access to our Lipscomb Live Feed, campus documents, articles, and more. New features — including two-way communication tools — will be released soon!

Student Activities

We’ve listened to your feedback about after-school clubs and know that sometimes the experience has felt inconsistent. Our goal is to make it easier for families to see what’s available and for students to find the activities that fit them best.

Because Lipscomb is a smaller school, many of our teachers and staff already wear multiple hats every day. Hosting a club is something they choose to do on top of their regular responsibilities, often giving their own time to make sure students have opportunities to explore their passions. While a few clubs come with district stipends, most are led purely out of our staff’s dedication to our Pride. Their willingness to step up is what makes so much possible here, and we are deeply grateful.

Below, you will see our 2025-2026 Club Catalogue that contains our offerings:

Applications for new DPAC members are now open!

What is DPAC?

  • The Dallas ISD District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) is a group of parent leaders who collaborate with district staff to strengthen family and community engagement. Members meet monthly and share parent perspectives, provide input on district initiatives, and help shape efforts that support student success.
  • Last year, DPAC grew from 5 to 18 parents. Members heard from guest speakers, connected with community resources, shared feedback with district leaders, and helped lead events like World Culture Night at Greiner MS and Family Career Night at Walnut Hill ILA. This year, 13 members are returning - and we’re excited to keep the momentum going with new members, projects, and committees!
