Please expect to receive an email from your child's homeroom teacher on the afternoon of August 19, after teachers return for the new school year. In this message, teachers will introduce themselves and share important information to help your family prepare for a successful start to the school year.

We are excited to welcome our newest students and families to Glenwood! Kindergarten Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 27, and is designed to help your child become familiar with the school before the first day. During your visit, you will learn about Glenwood, meet your child's teacher, visit the classroom, tour the building, and connect with other kindergarten families. Siblings who are not yet Glenwood students are welcome to attend.

Both sessions will begin in the Large Group Room. Families may enter through the Glenwood Main Entrance and will be escorted to the LGR at their designated session time. Parking is available in the side lot.

Returning Families (Grades 1st - 5th) are invited to visit during selected times from 1:30 pm to 2:40 pm on Thursday, August 27th to find your new classroom, meet your teacher, drop off school supplies, and visit with classmates. All returning students grades 1-5 will select a 20-minute time slot to visit their classroom. The sign up link will be sent with teacher assignments on August 19th.

Only returning students MUST pre-register for a visitation time.

This special event is designed to help first-time bus riders feel comfortable and confident before the first day of school. Bonnie Kinsler, Supervisor of Transportation, will share helpful information about riding the bus, followed by a bus ride to Glenwood Elementary School so students can experience the trip ahead of time.

The Rose Tree Media School District uses the MyRide K-12 app, which allows families to track their child's school bus in real time. After downloading the app and setting up an account, parents and guardians can view the location of the bus along its route and receive

transportation updates.

Kindergarten participants will run the length of the turf field together before our 7:00 pm home football game on Thursday, September 3rd, vs. Strath Haven!

All kindergarten participants will receive a "Future LION" t-shirt to wear for the event. Kindergarten families should arrive at 6:15 pm and meet on the track at 6:30 pm (near the scoreboard end of the field). The dash will be held at 6:40 pm. Students will be asked to quickly leave the field after the run to allow the football team time to warm up. Please note that this is NOT a drop-off event. We ask that only one parent or guardian accompany each kindergarten student on the field (no siblings, please).

Football game admission is $5 per adult (ages 12 and up). Cash only—please try to have exact change. Known as the "Media Bowl," this game typically draws a large crowd, so please plan to arrive early as parking may be limited. (Due to the holiday weekend, there will be no school on Friday, September 4th.)

The deadline has passed for supplies to be shipped directly to school but there is still time to get your order in and have it shipped to your home. For those who took advantage of ordering pre-ordering a school supply kit, items will be available for pick-up at our Open House.

Students are encouraged to complete the Summer Reading and Summer Math packets that were sent home at the end of the previous school year. These activities help students maintain their skills and prepare for a successful start to the new school year. Electronic copies of both packets are available below for your convenience.

Our Glenwood PTG is excited to host Playground Meet-Ups before the start of the school year! These informal gatherings are a great opportunity for students and families to reconnect with friends, meet new classmates, and help children feel comfortable before the first day of school. Whether you are new to Glenwood or a returning family, we hope you'll stop by, say hello, and enjoy some time together. We look forward to seeing you there and kicking off another great school year!

Glenwood PTG would like to welcome new students to our community with a "Welcome to Glenwood" yard sign. If you want to have one placed in your yard, please complete the following information by August 15th. Signs will be distributed at the end of August. Please return the signs back to Glenwood during Back-to-School Night in September so we can use them again for next year.

The Glenwood Elementary PTG is pleased to continue providing Membership Toolkit as our school's family directory. Membership Toolkit is the PTG's tool for our family directories, online store, field trip payments, volunteer signups and email communications, including emails from your child's homeroom parents. It's secure, easy to use, and free to families of Glenwood Elementary.

Already signed up for MTK in past years? Your child has already been graduated to this year's grade level - please just log in and update your child's teacher in the database once class assignments have been sent out.

Hello Glenwood Families!

I hope you’re enjoying a fantastic summer! I’m excited to let you know that I’ll be back in the office on August 19. At that time, I’ll be ready to collect any epi-pens, inhalers, and medications, along with your updated action plans and orders from your primary care provider.

Please take a moment to update your emergency cards for each student through the parent portal. Having the most current emergency contact and health information is essential for our records.

A friendly reminder: all Kindergarteners and new Glenwood students need to submit a physical exam and dental exam completed after August 31, 2025. Additionally, all 3rd graders are required to provide a dental exam form done after that same date.
