Daniel Feeney Preschool Update

March 7, 2025

Daniel FeeneyPreschool UpdateMarch 7, 2025

On Tuesday, our students experienced a lesson in flexibility and resilience. While the changes in schedule, missed snack time, and in some cases, leaving their backpacks behind were upsetting, they were able to navigate these challenges. Unexpected and frightening events naturally evoke strong emotions in children, but they also present an opportunity to teach and model resilience for our students. While outside, we demonstrated to our students that they are safe, our community helpers are there to assist us, and we all demonstrated bravery. It is crucial to validate your child’s feelings while also providing them with scripts to build their resilience. For instance, you may say, “It was scary, but you were safe, and you completed your day at school. You must be proud of yourself!” This approach fosters their internal resilience and provides them with an experience to draw upon when faced with future challenging situations. The link below provides resources on how to build your child's resilience, I hope you find it helpful.

This weekend we "spring ahead." I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Warm regards,

Julie Martin
