Lutherville Families,

We had another fantastic week at The Lab!

Build-a-Leopard and Movie Night was a great success -- what a crowd! Thank you to all who were able to join us and to the PTA for organizing another wonderful community event.

Our Primary Parade on Tuesday was a lovely event full of spirit as well. There is such growth between Kindergarten and 5th grade, and it's always fun to see our older students cheering and celebrating our younger students. I also want to share my gratitude for the thoughtful gifts celebrating National Principal's Month! I'm excited to decorate my office with great reminders of why I am in this work and thoroughly enjoyed the kind words (and funny jokes!) that were part of the KudoBoard. Thank you to all who contributed.

Wednesday our 5th graders did an excellent job with our Outdoor Science teachers at Oregon Ridge engaging in the BioBlitz to learn about the environment. Enjoy the pictures below. Thursday was another meeting of the Boundary Study committee, and for the first time there were options that kept Lutherville Laboratory's zoning intact. We are a long way from the finish line with options going to the Board of Education (February) and additional options will emerge. Please continue to stay informed and engaged in the process. There are public information sessions coming up November 15th and 16th, and I encourage Lutherville families to attend.

This past month was bullying awareness month. In addition to School Counseling lessons focused on being an upstander, students took a pledge to be "pawsitively" bully free, and we continued our monthly one-book, one-school initiative with Invisible Boy by Turdy Ludwig.

November is Attendance Awareness Month and we are launching a competition between our grade levels to see which can have the best attendance each week, with the winning grade level earning some extra recess! Attendance is central to learning and we look forward to seeing our Leopards every day they are healthy. Attendance matters!

Finally, we have more great events ahead in November. Picture day is Wednesday as is Donuts with Grownups (more info below) and American Education Week is the following week. Please remember to RSVP! (link below).

Finally -- there is a Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop looking to grow their ranks that asked us to share the attached flyers. Be sure to check them out if interested.

American Education Week

We invite you to come and visit your child's classroom during American Education Week. We have developed the schedule below in order to space out visitations and accommodate parents throughout the week. If this time does not work for you, you may work with your child's teacher to arrange for an alternate time that works for the instructional schedule.

We are offering the opportunity to expedite sign-in for American Education Week by giving visiting parents/guardians the opportunity to RSVP so that we can pre-print badges. We will run badges the day before visitations. If you complete the night before or morning of, we will need to run your ID on arrival.
