Dear Sunset Ridge Families,
As we step into November and enter this season of gratitude, I want to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for our incredible school community. Strong partnerships between home and school form the foundation of our students’ academic growth and personal achievement. Your daily involvement makes all the difference. Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who has partnered with us so far this year—whether you chaperoned a field trip (with a special shout-out to those who braved the elements for outdoor education!), volunteered your time with our dedicated PTA, or joined us for parent-teacher conferences. Your presence, energy, and advocacy show our students every day that their education is a shared journey.
As we kick off the second quarter, winter weather is quickly approaching. We recognize that mornings can become a bit more challenging as the temperatures drop, but consistent attendance remains essential. Demonstrating accountability and making wise choices begins with arriving on time, ready to learn. Our instructional day begins promptly at 8:05 a.m., and every minute counts toward building strong routines and ensuring academic success.
Looking ahead, we are excited to spotlight student curiosity, preparation, and positivity through two upcoming enrichment traditions:
- The Sunset Ridge spelling bee: Open to students in grades 3–8.
- The annual science fair: Open to all students in grades K–8.
Now is a wonderful time to start conversations at home with your child about getting involved and exploring topics they are passionate about. Detailed information packets will be sent home with students soon. If you have any preliminary questions, please feel free to reach out directly to your child’s classroom teacher.

Estimadas familias de Sunset Ridge PK-8:
Al comenzar noviembre y entrar en esta temporada de gratitud, quiero tomarme un momento para expresar mi sincero agradecimiento a nuestra increíble comunidad escolar. La sólida colaboración entre el hogar y la escuela constituye la base del crecimiento académico y el éxito personal de nuestros estudiantes, y su apoyo diario marca una gran diferencia.
Gracias a todos los que han colaborado con nosotros en lo que va del año: ya sea acompañando una excursión (¡con un agradecimiento especial a quienes desafiaron el clima para la educación al aire libre!), ofreciendo su tiempo como voluntarios en nuestra dedicada PTA, o asistiendo a las conferencias de padres y maestros. Su presencia, energía y apoyo demuestran a nuestros estudiantes todos los días que su educación es un camino compartido.
Al iniciar el segundo período escolar, el clima invernal se acerca rápidamente. Reconocemos que las mañanas pueden ser un poco más difíciles a medida que bajan las temperaturas, pero la asistencia constante sigue siendo esencial. Demostrar responsabilidad y tomar decisiones sabias comienza con llegar a tiempo, listos para aprender. Nuestra jornada escolar comienza puntualmente a las 8:05 a.m., y cada minuto cuenta para establecer rutinas sólidas y asegurar el éxito académico.
Mirando hacia el futuro, nos entusiasma destacar la curiosidad, preparación y positividad de los estudiantes a través de dos tradiciones de enriquecimiento que se aproximan:
- El concurso de ortografía de Sunset Ridge (Spelling Bee): Para estudiantes de 3.º a 8.º grado.
- La feria anual de ciencias: Para todos los estudiantes de kínder a 8.º grado.
Ahora es un momento excelente para comenzar a conversar en casa con su hijo o hija sobre su participación y explorar temas que les apasionen. Pronto enviaremos a casa paquetes con información detallada a través de los estudiantes. Si tienen alguna pregunta inicial, no duden en comunicarse directamente con el maestro o la maestra de su hijo o hija.
Gracias por su continuo compromiso con el éxito, el bienestar y la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes. Juntos, haremos que este segundo período sea el más exitoso.

Regular attendance is one of the biggest keys to your child’s success! Tardies and absences add up, and even missing a few minutes each day can mean missing important instruction, routines, and learning opportunities.
We ask families to work together to build strong morning routines, arrive on time every day, and make attendance a priority. When school and families work as a team, we give every student the best opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed! 🐺💙🧡
