We love having visitors join our students for lunch, however we must ensure we are following the state guidelines for food. Visitors are not permitted to bring outside food into the school cafeteria. Thank you for understanding.

As we plan for events to round out the end of the year, remember that any visitors to our building during the school day must present a driver's license or photo ID at the front doors for entry and front desk to sign in. This includes end of year award ceremonies.

We hate having to turn family away from awards ceremonies and other family events during the school day, but student safety is our first priority.

Food Drive Food Drive

Thank you for your donations for our food Drive to benefit the Turnaround Center. All items donated go directly back to support our community. Below are pictured just a few of the donations. There were so many more but items were picked up throughout the week. Thank you!

Reading for Education fundraiser Reading for Education fundraiser

This is the easiest fundraiser we do each year. Students complete an online booklet of contacts who might support Reading for Education through purchasing magazines or other items.

Remember - regardless of whether anyone contacted purchases items, the school receives automatic money for each student who complete the online booklet.

Each student who completes online booklet gets a mystery wildlife animal wrist hugger!

We are a Title 1 School We are a Title 1 School

What does this mean?

A Title I school is a public school receiving federal funding through the Title I, Part A program of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. These funds are allocated to schools with a high percentage of students from low-income families to help raise academic achievement for all students, particularly those at risk of failing to meet state standards.

How does LJES use Title 1 funds?

Title I funds supplement, rather than replace, state and local funding and can be used for various activities, such as hiring more teachers, providing additional instructional supplies, implementing after-school programs, or supporting parental involvement.

Here at LJES, we use our funding to:

  • pay for half of the school librarian
  • hire an additional staff member to work with small groups throughout the school day
  • purchase technology that accompanies our Reading and Math curriculum to enable teachers to plan and meet individual needs
  • pay for staff to receive training to further their teaching skills and knowledge
