Doyon News
Friday May 1, 2026
Good afternoon, Paul F. Doyon Memorial School Families,
It has been such a joy welcoming students back to school! We returned from April break to sunny skies, warmer weather, and the excitement of reconnecting as a school community. It’s hard to believe May is already here - we’re officially in the home stretch! ☀️
There is so much to look forward to in the weeks ahead. With the kickoff of DEEP (Doyon Extraordinary Program) this week and our always-popular Art Show, May is shaping up to be a vibrant and exciting month. 🎨 Please take a moment to review the list of important dates below and note any events that are relevant to your child.
As a reminder, Doyon Movie Night is tonight at 6:30 PM. All students must attend with a parent or guardian. A suggested donation of $10 is appreciated for this special event.
📌 2025–2026 Class Placement
Below this message, you will find a link to the Paul F. Doyon Memorial School Placement Form. This is an opportunity to share insights about your child’s learning style and the type of classroom environment in which they thrive as we begin planning for next year. Your input is greatly appreciated. The form will be closing soon, so please be sure to submit any important information. Be sure to read the description carefully to ensure your feedback is shared appropriately.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or if you need support. We are here to help.
Warmly,
Mr. Whitehouse-Mullen & Mrs. Benincasa
⭐Student Classroom Placement: Family Feedback⭐
Walk, Bike & Roll Spring 2026
Wednesday, May 6th, is the scheduled “Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day”. Bikers can meet a member of our police force and Mrs. Welch at 8:00 at Ipswich High School near the tennis courts and football field. Bikers must wear helmets. Please check your child's bike thoroughly for safety (tires inflated, chain intact, seat the correct height) so they can enjoy a safe ride to school.
Anyone interested in walking to school can meet Mrs. Cardew at the Mile Lane Parking. They will leave the lot at 8:15.
Bus Evacuation Safety
On Tuesday, May 12, Salter Transportation will conduct bus evacuation training for students during morning drop-off at Doyon (around 8:30 AM). Please note that in the event of heavy rain, drivers will give a verbal presentation instead of having students practice exiting through the rear of the bus.
Student Leadership Team Meeting
Our final Student Leadership Team Meeting (SLT) is Wednesday, May 20. Please send your child with an appropriate dismissal note or use "School Dismissal Manager". Students without proper arrangements will not be able to stay for the meeting or call home. Pick up will be promptly at 4:00 and be similar to the regular end-of-day dismissal. If you are picking up your child, please have their last name on a card, visible on your car's dashboard, and drive up to the front of the school. We will have someone outside reading off names so children are safely dismissed. We look forward to seeing your child there!
Beach Day 2026
This year, our elementary and middle school students will trade their classrooms for the sand and surf at Crane's Beach on Wednesday, June 17th (Rain Date: Monday, June 22nd).
Beach Day is a cherished Ipswich tradition that dates back to 1911. It began when the Crane family invited all the town's children to a massive beach picnic to celebrate their son Cornelius’s 6th birthday. Over a century later, we are proud to continue this wonderful legacy.
Doyon CARES
Members of our amazing Student Leadership Team (SLT) are continuing to do a wonderful job starting each day with C.A.R.E.S. reminders! Way to lead by example, SLT!

Nurse's Notes
Dear Doyon Families,
With Bike to School Day just around the corner, I thought it was important to review some tips we learned from our ThinkFirst Program through Boston Children's Hospital.
Some key points :
1. Helmets are only good for one crash and expire four years after the manufacture date on the inside/back of the helmet. After that, it is time to get a new helmet!
2. In Massachusetts, anyone 16 years of age or younger operating a bicycle or being carried as passenger on a bicycle must wear a properly fitting helmet.
3. The recommendation is to stay in a booster seat through the age of 7 and to not sit in the front seat until the age of 13.
See you on May 6th with your bike and scooters....and remember your helmet! If you need one, I do have some extras in the health office so please email me

School Safety
Curious about school safety procedures? Take a peek at the documents displayed below. These documents are shared with students at the start of the school year by Detective Joe Perna, our School Resource Officer. The documents may serve as a guide to support families in discussing school safety. As always, please be in touch with questions around school safety at the Paul F. Doyon Memorial School.
