A Message from Your Principal
Dear Garfield Families,
At our school, we believe that strong partnerships between home and school are key to student success. We are proud to offer several meaningful ways for parents and guardians to get involved and make a difference in our school community. Whether you're interested in helping shape school decisions through groups like the School Site Council (SSC) or Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC), giving feedback and supporting school improvement through SART, or volunteering your time and talents with our Parent Teacher Club (PTC), there’s a place for everyone to participate. Your voice matters, and we invite you to join us in creating the best possible environment for our students to learn and grow.
The Parent Teacher Club (PTC) is a volunteer group that supports our school by organizing fun events, raising funds for important school needs like technology and classroom supplies, and helping teachers through classroom volunteers and room parents. The PTC plays a big role in creating a positive school environment, and its success depends on the time and talents of dedicated parent volunteers.
Contact PTC via email: garfieldelementaryptc@gmail.com
The School Assessment and Review Team (SART) is a committee made up of parents, school staff, and community members who meet to learn more about how the school is doing and to give input on how it can improve. SART serves as an advisory group to the principal and helps share information between the school and families. It’s also a chance for parents to give feedback through annual surveys and be part of important conversations about school programs, safety, and student success. All are welcome to attend and get involved!

The Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC) is a parent and community group that works with school and district leaders to promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students. IDAC helps review policies to ensure fairness and non-discrimination in all areas of school life. At each school site, IDAC members focus on improving cultural awareness and supporting students from all backgrounds. It's a great opportunity for parents to help shape a school culture where every student feels valued and respected.

The School Site Council (SSC) is a group made up of parents, teachers, school staff, and site administration who work together to improve student learning at our school. The SSC helps make important decisions about how certain school funds are used to support academic programs and student success. It’s a great way for parents to get involved, stay informed, and have a voice in shaping the educational experience at our school. All meetings are open to the public, and we welcome your participation!

Drive Through Drop Off
Garfield is pleased to offer the drive through lane on Nees Ave as a safe option for dropping off and picking up your student every day. With more than 600 students in our school, the drive through can become congested quickly. To keep the drive through lane flowing smoothly, it is imperative that parents stay in their car and pull forward. Please do not park in the drive through lane. Following these two simple procedures will keep the lane moving, and avoid accidents, not to mention frustration! If you need to come onto campus to pick up your student, please park in a designated visitor parking spot. Clovis Unified police monitor the parking lots of all Clovis Unified campuses. Parking in designated handicap parking without a handicap placard or in parking designated for Garfield staff may result in a ticket. These spaces are not designated for student drop off.
Don't Forget Your Annual PTC Membership!
If you’d like to stay informed about class parties, ways to support your child’s teacher and classmates, and opportunities to help build the classroom carnival basket, it is urgent that we receive your email address. Without this, room parents cannot communicate important updates or requests, since the school is unable to share contact information directly.
Your email will only be shared with the designated room parents for each of your children’s classrooms. Please take a moment now to click the link or scan the QR code and fill out the form. You only need to submit once—even for multiple children—just be sure to list all your children’s teachers in the appropriate section.
Thank you for acting quickly to ensure open communication and a successful school year for all!
