PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Wednesday, August 5th
Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year!
We are so excited to start another year of school! We hope you are having an amazing summer break! Please continue to make the most of the summer, but please take a few moments to read this Patton Post as we have a lot of important information to share and I'm sure many of you are eager to start getting ready for the start of school in 15 days!
Our PTA has been busy planning some fantastic events so please mark your calendars for the LAST SPLASH POOL PARTY on Tuesday, August 11th at Frontier Pool and the always amazing BACK TO SCHOOL BASH that will take place on Friday, August 28th! We are so grateful to our PTA for organizing these events and helping to start off the school year with opportunities to have fun and connect with one another! More details can be found below!
Additional detailed information regarding the school year can be found in our "Back to School Guide" below so please take the time to go through this so you are ready to hit the ground running!
With the addition of our Instructional Program this year, pick up and drop off may look a bit different so please pay close attention to that section of the Back to School Guide. PLEASE LINK IT AGAIN
In the meantime, I hope you all continue to enjoy the rest of the summer break! We cannot wait for the start of school on Thursday August, 20th!
Ellie Chin
CLASS PLACEMENT NOTIFICATION
Class placement information will be sent out via email on Thursday, August 13th. We cannot tell you what time the emails will be sent as this is a centralized process district-wide. If you have not received your child's class placement by 8:00 am on Friday, August 14th, please reach out to Mrs. Berthlein or Mrs. Dunning in the front office and they will be happy to help you. Please do check your junk or spam folders if you don't see it in your inbox.
At this time, teacher assignments are final. Our class development process involves significant time and careful consideration. Decisions were thoughtfully made for each student as we share your desire for each of our Panthers to have a successful year of learning and growth, and to have fun and enjoy each day they enter our doors.
We do understand that children may feel nervous or anxious about the start of a new year with different classmates, a new teacher, and a different space. To support your child in this transition, we hope you will attend our School Supply Drop-Off/Meet and Greet on Wednesday, August 19th from 2:50 - 3:20 pm. This will allow your child the opportunity to meet their teacher, see the classroom, and see the friendly and familiar faces of their future classmates. If you are unable to attend, please rest assured that all of our teachers will include a variety of activities to help students get to know one another as the year begins.
BACK TO SCHOOL GUIDE 26-27
Our Back to School Guide for the 2026-2027 school year can be found HERE. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the information.
SCHOOL SUPPLY DROP OFF - Wednesday, August 19th
Supply Drop off will take place on Wednesday, August 19th from 2:50 - 3:20pm. Teachers are still busy preparing for an amazing first day of school. Please stop by to drop off school supplies and meet your teacher! We kindly ask that only current families visit the classroom so that teachers are able to say hello and connect with each of their new students during this time. Once you drop off your supplies please feel free to stop by the commons to taste some of our delicious hot lunch items, meet Ashley Campos, our new assistant principal, or head outside to the blacktop area and connect with other families outdoors. There is no need to organize supplies while you are in the classroom. Teachers will build that into the first few days of school.
If you ordered supplies through the PTA, those supplies will be delivered directly to your child's classroom. If you still need to purchase supplies, you can now access grade-level supply lists on the Patton website and pull them through to your store of choice. Simply navigate HERE, head to the “Quick Links for Parents” section, pull down the “School Supply List 26-27” menu, and select the appropriate grade. Please see below for the school supply list if you are planning on braving the store in person!. Please take special note of the recommended headphones linked here.
If you are unable to attend supply drop off, please know that your child can bring their supplies in over the first few days of school.
A MESSAGE FROM THE NURSE
We are looking forward to a HEALTHY school year. Please refer to the Medication Drop Off Reference Sheet and schedule an appointment with our school nurse, Sarah Klancnik - sklancnik@sd25.org, if you need to drop off medication.
Please refer to our Health Services webpage for additional information and required health forms.
CELL PHONES AND ELECTRONIC DEVICES IN SCHOOL
As we get ready to start the new school year, we wanted to draw your attention to this excerpt from the Parent Student Handbook.
If your child has a smart watch or cell phone, please discuss and establish expectations with them prior to sending them to school. All devices should be turned off and left in backpacks during the school day (see AHSD25 Parent Student Handbook, Page 40 and below)
Please explain to your child/ren that they should reach out to their teacher, the front office, or Mrs. Klancnik, our school nurse, if they need to reach you during the day. We care about all of our students and will support them as needed while they are here at school. Any parent or guardian who needs to communicate a message to their child during the school day should call the office. Please know that your message will be passed on to your child. We appreciate your understanding and partnership.
From the Parent/Student Handbook, page 40
Cell Phones and Other Electronic Devices
The possession and use of cell phones and other electronic devices, including wearables, are subject to the following rules:
Middle school students are expected to turn off electronics and store devices in their middle school locker during the school day.
Elementary students are expected to leave electronics in the “off” position and in their backpacks throughout the school day.
A supervising teacher may grant permission for them to be used or if needed during an emergency.
They may not be used in any manner that will cause disruption to the educational environment or will otherwise violate student conduct rules.
TOYS - PLEASE KEEP THEM SAFE AND SOUND AT HOME
Please ensure all toys remain at home this year. We provide equipment for students to use at recess whether it is outdoor recess or indoor recess. We ask that anything that is not part of their school supplies remains at home so they are not lost or damaged. Please note that we are also referring to squishies, NeeDohs, dumplings, etc.
If there is a special class celebration, the teacher will notify students and parents that they can bring in something for the special event. For example, your child's class may have a pajama or fort day where students are able to bring in a stuffed animal. On these occasions they are welcome to bring in these items. Outside of special events all toys, including fidgets, should be left at home to avoid becoming a distraction in the classroom or being lost or damaged at school.
For any students who have an individualized plan to have access to fidgets at school, Patton staff will provide a fidget that supports their needs.
