CAASPP State Testing and Upcoming Score Reports
Students across our district are currently engaging in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), California’s annual state assessment. Students in grades 3–8 and 11 take assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and students in grades 5, 8, and 11 or 12 take assessments in Science. These assessments measure student learning to inform families and school sites about student achievement, and student scores can be compared to previous years to see growth over time.
CAASPP assessments are first reviewed by state education staff, who then provide score reports to our district staff. Once scoring is complete, families will receive individual score reports for each student, which will be made available on Parent Portal. We anticipate that all individual score reports will be available by mid-June. District staff will receive preliminary reports of school and district-level performance in June. However, these results are not authenticated or authorized for public release by the state until mid-October 2026. At that time we will provide more information on 2026 CAASPP assessment results, for now we congratulate all our hard working students on another great year of learning and growth!

Bike Education
The City of Vista recently shared a helpful video and article about bicycle safety in our community. Both are easy to follow and full of useful tips to help keep families safe while riding. You can check them out here:
* Bicycle Safety Article (North County Daily Star)
We’re also excited to invite you to our next Bike Education Night, next week! Join us on Thursday, May 21st, from 5:00–6:00 PM at Vista Academy (VAPA). This is a great event for the whole family, and everyone is welcome. This is a safety and informational meeting, students do not need to bring their bikes. If your child is currently in 5th grade and plans to ride their bike to school in middle school, this class is an important step. Students who attend will earn the permit they need to ride to school. Permits will be sent to their school when they begin 6th grade. Permits are required for all middle and high school students. Check out our website for more information and our protocol to answer any questions.
