Happy Homecoming!

I want to thank everyone for your continued support of Scooper Activities as we finish Homecoming Week with our matchup against the Douglas Patriots. We’re expecting a great atmosphere and a large crowd, and we’re excited to welcome the class reunions from 1976, 1986, 1996, and 2006! Special seating will be available for the reunions in the West End Zone area.

With that in mind, we’re asking for your help in making the evening safe and enjoyable for everyone. As a friendly reminder, please make sure younger students do not gather near the concession and restroom areas or leave the stadium area to go to the park or parking lot. If your child attends the game, we ask that they remain with you in the stands and be part of the experience as we cheer on our Scoopers.

Please also remind your child to leave balls and other play equipment at home. This will help reduce congestion and distractions around the complex and allow everyone to enjoy the game.

We also ask that only game personnel park inside the gated area and that the driveway remains clear. This is important to ensure emergency vehicles have access to the area and can exit safely if needed.

We appreciate your help keeping our events safe, enjoyable, and focused on supporting our student-athletes. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support of Scooper Activities.

Let’s make it a great Homecoming night.

Go Scoopers!

Sturgis Brown High School’s Youth Leadership Team (YLT) will bring students, families, staff and community members together for a Suicide Prevention Walk on Sunday, September 27, at 12:00 p.m. at Sturgis Brown High School.

Held during Suicide Prevention Month, the walk is an opportunity for the Sturgis community to raise awareness, remember those whose lives have been affected by suicide and remind others that help and support are available. By walking together, participants can help open conversations about mental health, reduce stigma and show support for those who may be struggling.

The YLT Suicide Prevention Walk is about more than walking—it is about connection, awareness and hope. Students, families, school staff and community members are encouraged to participate and stand together in support of suicide prevention.

One of the most important steps in suicide prevention is simply reaching out. Checking in with a friend, classmate or family member, listening without judgment and helping someone connect with additional support can make a meaningful difference.

Sturgis Brown High School kicked off Homecoming Week Monday evening with Coronation, where Leigha Long and Zhoel Irion were crowned the 2026 Homecoming Queen and King.

Long and Irion were selected from a senior Homecoming Court that included Lilyana Aga, Danica Dschaak, Leigha Long, Taya Uherka, Olivia Vliem, Tripp Burgdoerfer, Zhoel Irion, Jack Jolley, Dion Reece and Gage West.

Joining the celebration were kindergarten Homecoming royalty Harlie Bergman and Luke Wilson, who helped make the evening an especially memorable start to this year’s “Carnival of the Scoopers” Homecoming celebration.

Coronation celebrated much more than Homecoming royalty. SBHS coaches spoke about their teams and activities, and helped build excitement for the week ahead. The evening highlighted the school spirit, traditions and sense of community that make Homecoming special at SBHS.

With the crowning of Leigha Long and Zhoel Irion, Homecoming Week is officially underway. The remainder of the “Carnival of the Scoopers” promises plenty of opportunities to celebrate SBHS traditions, support students and show what Scooper pride is all about. Go Scoopers!

DONATION SUPPORTS SBHS SCOOPER CLOSET DONATION SUPPORTS SBHS SCOOPER CLOSET

      zoom_out_map

Sturgis Brown High School would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sturgis Liquors for its generous donation to the Scooper Closet, a resource dedicated to helping SBHS students and families in need. Student Council representative Charlee Bierle is responsible for ordering supplies and organizing the closet. She is pictured with items purchased for the closet using the donations collected throughout the year.

The donation was made possible through funds collected from engraving donations at Sturgis Liquors. By choosing to give those funds back to local students, Sturgis Liquors is helping the Scooper Closet continue to provide essential items and assistance throughout the school year.

The Scooper Closet provides students with access to clothing, shoes, personal necessities, snacks and other grab-and-go food items. Students can receive the items they need in a welcoming and discreet way, helping ensure that every student has access to basic necessities while at school.

Support from community donations also allows the school to assist students beyond the school day. Funds have been used to provide family meals for students and their households, offering additional support when families may be experiencing a difficult time.

The Scooper Closet is made possible through the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the Sturgis community. Donations such as the one from Sturgis Liquors allow SBHS to respond to students' needs as they arise and provide meaningful assistance where it is needed most.

Thank you to Sturgis Liquors and everyone who contributed through the engraving donations for supporting our Scoopers. Your generosity makes a difference in the lives of SBHS students and families.

Sturgis Brown High School would like to thank Northern Black Hills REALTORS® for Kids for its generous donation of hygiene bags for students who may need a little extra support. The organization recently assembled bags filled with everyday personal-care essentials for local middle and high school students. Boys’ bags include shampoo, body wash, deodorant, socks, a toothbrush, toothpaste and a comb, while girls’ bags include pads, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a toothbrush, toothpaste and a comb. These supplies will be available to students discreetly and respectfully whenever a need arises.

The donation provides more than basic necessities—it is another example of the tremendous support local organizations provide to students and families in our community. Having personal-care items readily available can help remove barriers and allow students to feel comfortable, confident and ready to focus on school. Sturgis Brown High School is grateful to Northern Black Hills REALTORS® for Kids for recognizing this need and helping ensure students have access to essential items. Their generosity sends an important message to our students: our community cares about them and is here to support them.
