The Soaring Eagle News
Alderman's weekly family newsletter to keep you in the know.

Happy Fantastic Friday Eagle Families,
WOW! Can you believe we've officially wrapped up our FIRST QUARTER of school?! Time sure flies when you're learning, growing, and having FUN! Our Eagles have been working hard, showing perseverance, and making incredible progress, and we couldn't be prouder! A HUGE thank-you to everyone who joined us for our Fall Festival last Friday! What an AMAZING evening filled with laughter, games, smiles, and community spirit! Thanks to your incredible support, our PTA raised over $3,600 to support programs and activities for our students! That's something worth celebrating! WAY TO GO, ALDERMAN!
This week, we kept the excitement rolling with our Unity Spirit Week! Our Eagles came together to celebrate kindness, positivity, acceptance, and inclusion, reminding us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a BIG difference! One of the highlights was completing our collaborative Eagle Unity Project, featuring the hands of our students coming together in a beautiful display in our front lobby. Be sure to check it out! We also wrapped up the week with an exciting PBIS Celebration, recognizing students who consistently demonstrated our SOAR core values: Scholar, Optimistic, Accountable, and Respectful! Seeing so many Eagles earn the opportunity to celebrate their positive choices was a wonderful way to close out the quarter. Let's keep spreading that kindness and positivity all year long!
And now… HELLO, QUARTER 2! With Halloween just around the corner, we're excited to announce that this Friday, October 30, is COSTUME DAY! Our students have done a fantastic job following costume expectations in previous years, which is why we can continue this fun tradition! Please take a moment to review the Costume Day guidelines below so we can keep the day safe, school-appropriate, and enjoyable for everyone. Thank you for your continued partnership, encouragement, and support. It truly takes a village, and we are so fortunate to have such an amazing Alderman family cheering on our Eagles!
Quarter 1 is in the books, and Quarter 2 is ready for takeoff! Let's keep learning, growing, spreading kindness, and SOARing to new heights together!

Parent Corner:
COSTUME DAY!!
Costume Day Expectations:
Absolutely NO simulated weapons of any kind. No pretend swords, guns, grenades, knives, etc. Nothing that could possibly be perceived as a weapon or simulated weapon is allowed. A Harry Potter wand is permitted.
Costumes must comply with NHCS dress code. No short shorts or skirts, revealing tops, etc. Please use good judgment.
Hats that are part of a costume are allowed. Students may wear a wig.
Costumes should not be so large or obtrusive that it prevents the child from sitting comfortably in his/her desk, or so obtrusive that they block the view in the classroom of those sitting behind the student.
Student costumes need to be respectful of body images and should not emphasize negative stereotypes of any person, gender, or ethnicity. Cultural sensitivity is required.
Students should not interfere with another person’s costume. Students spend a lot of time, thought, money, and energy in preparing their costume. We do not want their costume damaged by another student.
No full face covering masks are allowed. Examples of these types of masks include masks as seen in the movie Scream or Friday the 13th. Medical masks, like worn in the TV Show ER, would be permitted.
Additionally, faces may be painted, but in small portions (a scar, for example) and the entire face may not be covered. Hair may be sprayed a different color, but no colored hair spray is allowed on campus. These items will be confiscated and not returned if brought to school.
Attendance Matters:
We were able to get 2 more days toward our goal so we now have 4 days of 10 or fewer tardies, just 16 more days to go! This week we averaged 14 tardies each day.
Remember, students who enter the building at 7:40 AM or later are tardy, so please adjust your morning routine to get out the house a few minutes earlier and plan to arrive a few minutes early.
