PHA EC December Newsletter

Dear Families,

As we enter the month of December, I am reminded of how fortunate we are to be part of such a caring, dedicated, and joyful school community. This time of year brings a natural opportunity to reflect on the months behind us and to celebrate the growth, hard work, and resilience our students have shown each and every day.

I am incredibly proud of our staff, whose commitment to our children is evident in every classroom, hallway interaction, and moment of support. Their passion creates a place where students feel safe, welcomed, and eager to learn. And to our families—thank you for your partnership. Your involvement, encouragement, and trust make all the difference.

As we move toward the holiday break, I hope each of you finds time to rest, connect with loved ones, and enjoy the simple moments that make this season special. May the coming weeks bring warmth, peace, and joy to your homes.

Thank you for all you do to make our school a vibrant and inspiring place to learn and grow. I look forward to beginning the new year together with renewed energy and excitement.

We opened the school year learning about what makes a strong community. Kindergartners and 1st Graders will now think about how animals share habitats with each other and with humans and how the special features of different animals help them survive in their habitats. Our 2nd Graders will explore the effects of wind and water on land and how the changing land affects people and how we live. Our PreK students are engaging in lessons to help them learn about listening for sounds. Then they will start to work with words, syllables, and sounds they hear in words.

We want to remind everyone about our Helping Hands Sharing Table, located at the top of the stairs by the front entrance. This space is available for any family who may need a little extra support, as well as for those who wish to donate non-perishable food items to help others.

We are truly excited to see how many families have already taken part in this give-and-take opportunity. Your generosity and sense of community make a meaningful difference, and we encourage all families to participate in whatever way feels right for them.

December 18th- PHA Thrive Dinner at the EC Campus - 5:30-7:00

December 19th- Non-Dress Code Day

December 23rd - Half Day - Early Release at 12:00

December 24th-January 5th No School- Holiday Break

Morning Drop-Off

*Parking in front of the school is not allowed, this is a moving drop-off line.

*Follow all rules enforced by the City of Somerville.

*Please be respectful to city workers as students are always observing.

*Need a copy of the legal parking map? Contact us and we'll help you out.

Dismissal

*School ends at 3:00 pm

*Late pickups incur a $1.00 per minute fee.
