Ott's Outlook

June 2020

Congratulations to all of our students, families and staff for the completion of an unprecedented 2019-20 school year!

As I reflect on this year, I am overcome with pride when I think about how our district has navigated each and every step of the journey.

We have all heard the phrase “Wildcat Strong” thrown out over the years but I believe that this year has forever redefined what this really means for Temple ISD and our community.

As we have transitioned to “all things virtual” in the last ten weeks, it has really allowed us to focus on video production which has been a goal for us. Hopefully, you have enjoyed many of these productions and I have included three videos in this newsletter that showcase some of the versatility as we attempt to connect with different audiences.

As we move into summer, I encourage each of you to stay connected with us through email, social media and our website. We will communicate important updates and information through these channels to ensure that you remain informed.

A special thanks to each of you for your commitment to our school district and for being Wildcat Strong!

Proud to be your superintendent.

Bobby Ott

End of Year Message to Staff

Below is an end of year message that I shared with staff this week. They have truly done an outstanding job and I am very proud of them!

TISD: Let's Talk

We have launched a new video series --Let's Talk-- that will provide a two minute or less overview of district events, programs, initiatives and more. Click below to hear about our TISD TV program that will launch this summer for grades PK-5.

Superintendent Scholars

The Superintendent Scholar Award recognizes the top 10 students based on their GPAs in the Freshman, Sophomore and Junior classes because in Temple ISD we believe it is important to recognize academic milestones throughout the high school experience and not just during the final graduation ceremony. We would typically have a reception and nice dinner to honor these students and their families but this year we were able to honor them in a different way -- and just as fun!!!!

To: University of Mary Hardin Baylor

When the announcement was made by the Texas Education Commissioner that we could hold outdoor graduation ceremonies, UMHB stepped up to allow us to use their facilities to host our graduation for the Class of 2020. They have been incredible partners throughout the planning process and we can't wait for it to all come together for our students on June 12!

To: City of Temple

When approached about utilizing the City's government access channel to broadcast summer lessons, the Communications and Marketing department was wonderful to commit daily airspace. TISD-TV will be broadcast June 1-July 30 from 9:00 -11:00 am M-Th on the City's Spectrum CH. 10 station. We are beyond grateful for their generosity and commitment to helping us reach as many students as possible!
