Greetings Families and Caregivers,
October is Here! 🍂
October is here, and we are well on our way! Our routines and expectations are becoming more solid each day, and it has been wonderful to see high levels of engagement, connection, and learning happening throughout our school.
An Inclusive Lending Library is Coming to VBES!
We are so excited to share that VBES has secured a grant to create an Inclusive Lending Library! We will officially launch the library tomorrow morning during a school-wide meeting. This will give our students opportunities to explore books and resources that celebrate different experiences, identities, abilities, families, and perspectives. We can't wait to see this iniative grow into something our whole community can enjoy.
Sidekicks Are Underway!
Our Sidekicks program launched on Thursday! Sidekicks is all about kindness, respect, connection, and learning for everyone. It creates opportunities for friendships to grow, students to learn from one another, and inclusive practices to deepen across our school. We are excited to see where these relationships take us!
Student Voice Matters
Our School Council representatives have been selected! A special thank-you to our Grade 4 leaders who stepped up to represent their peers and help make sure student voice is part of the conversation at VBES. We are looking forward to hearing their ideas and working together throughout the year.
A Quick Bathroom Reminder
We have noticed that our bathrooms have become an unexpected area of concern this year. We would appreciate a quick reminder at home about bathroom etiquette, respect for shared spaces, and appropriate behavior. Our bathrooms are community spaces, and we want everyone to feel comfortable, safe, and respected when using them. Thank you for partnering with us on this!
We Love Having You at VBES!
We have had more and more caregivers coming into school to visit, volunteer, and be part of our community—and we love it! If you are interested in volunteering or joining us for a school activity, please make your way into VBES. Your presence matters, and we are grateful for the many ways our families help make our school such a connected community.
Our PTO is such an important part of the VBES community. They are an incredible group of families who give their time, energy, and creativity to support our students and school.
If you haven’t connected with the PTO yet, we’d love to have you join us!
October 9th - Dismissal is at 11:30. We WILL serve breakfast AND lunch this morning - more like breakfast and brunch!
