Message to Families
Message from the Superintendent, Dr. Kayleen Marble
Dear Families,
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, I want to express my gratitude to each of you for your invaluable partnership in helping our students thrive until the end of the year. We have celebrated many amazing things this year and have hosted some fun events such as the trunk or treat, the annual Thanksgiving feast, Cocoa with Santa, Prom and many more. Our sports teams have been recognized for their sportsmanship both on and off the field and court, with many individuals winning awards and other honors. As we wrapped up the year, our 7 on 7 football team won the state championship. Congratulations to all who participated!
It truly takes a lot of effort by so many people to run a school. I want to recognize and thank the team for everything they do on a daily basis.
Thank you to Coach CJ for giving so many students the opportunity to be a part of the team and for all the extra efforts he makes to bring that coaching spirit to the rest of the school. Mr. Dunford also has done a great job with e-sports and dedicated much time each day after school to the students with that opportunity.
A big thank you to all the teachers for the amazing work they do each day with our students. Their dedication to our students is what makes our school great. We've also been able to offer more blended and online classes with our addition of Mr. Dunford this year, which has given students more opportunities and other ways to learn. Aimee Dunford was our lead teacher this year and did a fabulous job in coaching and mentoring teachers. She did many things behind the scenes that made the school run smoother.
Thank you to our counselor Carla Mannes. Not only does she love to work with our individual students with whatever they need but also has worked this year to create more community partnerships. She has been instrumental in getting donations and sponsorships for our school from our local community. We appreciate Shannon Holec for her work as a graduation coach. For the first time, we have a person dedicated to working with students on their graduation plans, and helping to connect them with resources for their future colleges and careers.
We appreciate our special programs team who works with our students that have specific needs - in English language learning, special education, or other needs that we can support. This team has recognized each individual and what they need to be able to be successful in our school.
Finally, a big thank you to our operations team. Taylor Sorensen, Betty Guzman, and Michelle Martin take care of many things behind the scenes that keep our school operational. Devon Green did a superb job coordinating state testing and making sure that our assessments ran smoothly.
Please take a moment to reflect on the year and celebrate the success of your students. Our calendar for next year is now on our website for your information. https://acparizona.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/ACP-25-26-Calendar-Approved.pdf
With that, I would like to wish students, parents & caregivers, and school staff a safe, restful and rewarding summer. Hopefully we will all get the opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends and come back to school with a sense of rejuvenation in the fall.
Message from the Dean of Students, Mr. Chester Freas
"The end of one chapter is the beginning of an exciting new adventure."
As May 22 quickly approaches, we find ourselves at the close of the 2024–2025 school year. But this isn’t the end—it's the beginning of so much more.
For our underclassmen, this marks the start of summer: a time for rest, travel, and new experiences. For our graduating class, this is your moment to forge your own path and shape your future. Many of you will move forward and, we hope, return to visit your ACP family. I encourage you to cherish the memories and let them fuel your future endeavors.
To our sports programs, coaches, parents, staff, and especially our student-athletes—what an incredible year it has been. From our flag football team finishing as state runners-up, to our basketball team reaching the Final Four, to our Esports teams—with one advancing to the playoffs—and concluding with our 7-on-7 football team being crowned 2025 State Champions—you have made us proud. I urge you all to continue trusting one another, believing in yourselves, and working together.
“Leave footprints of kindness wherever you go and watch them grow into something beautiful.”
Thank you for an amazing 2024–2025 school year. I’m already counting down the days until we begin the journey of 2025–2026.
Go Lions!

Staff Appreciation Week - May 2025
We had a truly memorable and heartwarming Staff Appreciation Week, filled with gratitude, community spirit, and incredible generosity. From May 5th through the 8th, our amazing staff were showered with appreciation — and plenty of delicious food — thanks to the generosity of our local partners and school community.
Special thanks to Backyard Taco, Trader Joe’s, Sassy’s Café, Ms. Carla Mannes (School Counselor), Student Council, and the ACP Admin Team for providing an abundance of meals, snacks, and treats throughout the week. Your thoughtful contributions kept everyone smiling and energized!
In a unique and much-loved gesture of appreciation, our school sports teams went above and beyond by washing staff members' cars. This act of service was not only helpful but a perfect example of the strong, supportive community we’re proud to be part of.
We extend our gratitude to all who helped make this week such a success. To our staff: thank you for your dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to our students. And to our community partners: thank you for helping us celebrate them in such a meaningful way.

ACP Featured on Arizona Family
Our school had the incredible opportunity to be featured on the morning news with Arizona Family during Staff Appreciation Week! This exciting spotlight showcased the heart of our ACP community and the amazing partnerships that make it all possible.
A huge thank you to Sassy’s Café, one of our wonderful community partners, for teaming up with our Student Council to deliver warm, delicious cinnamon rolls to our staff and students. Art Walk
On April 24, the halls of Building 2 were transformed into a vibrant gallery space as the Art Club proudly hosted this year's Spring Art Walk. This special event showcased the incredible talent and creativity of our student artists, who have spent weeks working diligently on a wide array of projects. From expressive paintings and intricate drawings to innovative mixed-media pieces and striking 3D sculptures, the Art Walk offered a stunning glimpse into the imagination and dedication of our students.
Throughout the day, students and staff were invited to walk through the exhibit, admire their peers’ artistic accomplishments, and engage in conversations about the inspiration and techniques behind the work. It was a powerful reminder of the role the arts play in building community, encouraging self-expression, and celebrating individuality.
A huge thank you to all the students who participated, as well as those who came out to support them. Your creativity and effort brought so much color and joy to our campus!

School Operations
Finish Strong - Attendance for Our In-Person and Online Students
We’re in the home stretch — the final week of the school year is here, and summer is just around the corner! But before we trade our backpacks or Chromebooks for beach towels, let’s give it one last strong push to the finish line. We encourage all students to stay focused, stay engaged, and keep logging those online hours — every minute counts!
Attendance Policy - Reminder
Students need to be on time to school no later than 7:59 AM. Students report back to school after lunch no later than 11:59 AM.
- Students tardy by less than 20 minutes will be sent to ISS during a "sweep" and remain there working quietly until break. They will then return to their scheduled class after break. The time in ISS covers the tardy hours.
- Students who are more than 20 minutes late will be sent to ISS for the remainder of the class period and work quietly. The hours they are in ISS count towards hours completed that a student owes.
- Students tardy after lunch will be in full day ISS until break. If students are late from lunch more than once during the week they will have a full day ISS NO BREAKS and will need to bring a lunch.
Summer Office Hours & Support
We want to keep you informed about our summer availability. While our amazing teachers will be off for a well-deserved break, our dedicated Operations Team will be here all summer long to support you!
Whether you have questions about enrollment, transcripts, technology, or anything in between — we're just a phone call or email away and happy to help.
Thank you for being a part of our school community. We hope you have a safe, relaxing, and joyful summer — and remember, we’re here if you need us!
Thank You from the Testing Coordinator
Dear Families,
I want to extend my deepest gratitude to each of you for your tremendous support, cooperation, and commitment throughout this important time.
We recognize that testing can be a stressful and demanding experience — not only for students but also for the families who support them behind the scenes. From ensuring students arrived on time and well-rested, to encouraging them with kind words and positive energy, your partnership made a meaningful difference.
To our students: thank you for showing up with focus, perseverance, and your best effort. You’ve demonstrated responsibility, resilience, and pride in your learning — and that’s something to celebrate.
To our families: your encouragement, patience, and understanding helped create an environment where our students could thrive and feel confident. We truly couldn't do this without you.
Thank you again for being such an essential part of our school community. We are so proud of all our students and grateful for your continued support.

Academic's Corner
History with Mr. Smith (Block 6)
Students in Mr. Smith’s U.S. History B class have been diving deep into one of the most powerful chapters of American history—the American Indian Civil Rights Movement. Through thought-provoking discussions, multimedia resources, and reflective activities, students gained a greater understanding of the resilience, struggles, and triumphs of Indigenous communities as they fought for equality and recognition. It’s been an inspiring journey of learning about voices that demanded to be heard and the lasting impact of their courage.
Math with Mr. Mazon (Block 6)
In Algebra, students are diving into Trigonometric Ratios, learning how to use sine, cosine, and tangent to solve problems involving right triangles. They’re also exploring how these concepts apply in real-world contexts.
In Geometry, we’re focusing on Geometric Proofs. Students are learning how to build logical arguments using definitions, theorems, and properties to prove relationships between angles, lines, and shapes.
Small Group with Ms. Mannes
As we wrap up Block 6, we are completing our small group sessions with students focused on social-emotional learning and personal growth opportunities. It has been a meaningful time of connection and development, and we look forward to continuing this important work with our student groups in the fall.
Summer 2025
Summer Reading Matters: The Power of Physical Books
Hello Parents!
As summer approaches, we want to emphasize the importance of keeping your child’s mind active during the break — and one of the simplest, most effective ways to do that is by encouraging regular reading. While digital options are everywhere, physical books offer unique advantages that are especially valuable for young readers.
Why Physical Books?
1. Reduced Screen Time:
In a world where children are already spending many hours on screens, physical books offer a healthy break for their eyes and minds.
2. Improved Focus and Comprehension:
Studies show that reading printed materials enhances concentration and helps students retain more information compared to reading on a screen.
3. Builds Reading Stamina:
Physical books encourage sustained, distraction-free reading, helping students develop the ability to focus for longer periods — a skill that supports academic success.
4. Strengthens the Parent-Child Bond:
Reading together from a physical book fosters connection. It’s easier to snuggle up with a paperback than a tablet, and turning pages together creates lasting memories.
5. Supports Sleep Hygiene:
Reading a physical book before bed can help students wind down and sleep better, unlike screens which can interfere with melatonin production and sleep quality.
Make It Fun This Summer!
Visit your local library: Many libraries offer summer reading challenges and free book lending.
Create a reading nook: Design a cozy corner where your child can curl up with their favorite stories.
Let them choose: Empower your child by letting them select books that interest them — from graphic novels to nonfiction.
Thank you for helping foster a love of reading that will last a lifetime. With your support, we can ensure students return in the fall with sharp minds and big imaginations!
Summer Wellness Alert for Students!
Did you know that Planet Fitness is offering FREE gym memberships to all high school students this summer? That’s right — teens can stay active, healthy, and energized all summer long without spending a dime!
Whether you're looking to crush your fitness goals, try something new, or just escape the heat in an air-conditioned gym, this is the perfect opportunity to take care of your body and mind.
Don't miss out on this incredible offer — it's a great way to build healthy habits, boost your confidence, and maybe even make a few new friends along the way.
Let’s make this summer strong, fun, and full of good vibes!
Tax Credit Donations
Remember that each year there is an AZ tax credit of $200 for individuals and $400 for families when you donate to a school. This means that if you give a donation of that amount to the school (with receipt) you get that as a tax credit back on your AZ state taxes. Business/Corporate donations can be up to $800. These donations are used to help our sports and other extracurricular activities. Please talk to Ms. Ramos at the front office if you'd like to make a donation.
