Exciting Developments at New Jackson Elementary
The beautiful weather in May and June has meant more than spending time on outdoor activities…it provides a great opportunity to get a lot of construction done. That is exactly what is happening at Jackson Elementary. Some of the milestones include:
Most of the underground plumbing and electrical utilities are in place.
Foundation work on the cafeteria and gymnasium is complete.
A shift from below-ground work to above-ground, such as the brick work around the elevator shaft.
Construction at Silverbrook and Badger is Moving Along
In addition to the ongoing work on the new Jackson Elementary School, several projects at Silverbrook and Badger are underway.
To date, efforts at these two schools have focused on preparing each site for updates to specific areas. In addition, major milestones have been achieved with the completion of underground plumbing inspections at the Badger boy’s locker room and special education classroom features at Silverbrook. Other projects include:
Silverbrook classrooms getting en-suite bathrooms to welcome kindergarteners.
Silverbrook replacement of loading dock original to the building.
Badger fire alarm upgrades.
Green Tree Parking Lot Updates
Progress has been made on repaving of the Green Tree parking lot, which will also include new traffic patterns and parking spaces. Soon, the construction crew will have the lot ready to repave.
Transportation Update Reflects Changes in Schools
Fifth grade students will remain at the elementary school level in fall 2026. The following year, fall of 2027, sixth-grade students will attend Badger Middle School. Transportation eligibility distances have been updated to align with school grade level configuration.
These updated distance guidelines are now available on the West Bend School District website at Busing/Transportation. They will also be included in the bus transportation request section of the annual back-to-school registration for all families, which opens in mid-July.
If your family has recently moved, please provide your new address to the West Bend School District as soon as possible using this Change of Address Form. Accurate address information ensures correct transportation.
Questions about transportation can be directed to Tracy Banks, transportation coordinator, at 262-335-5438 or tbanks@wbsd-schools.org.
