Winnona Park Weekly Update
Winnona ParkWeekly Update

February 5, 2026

Dear Winnona Park Community,

Currently, we have eight students signed up to take part in our annual living history museum. We'd sure like more participants.

Students will be able to present interesting facts about a prominent figure in Black history during Community Circle (February 13th: 1st Grade; Feb 27: 2nd Grade; March 6th: Kindergarten). Some suggestions include - Inventors, Educators, Artists, Musicians, Authors, Athletes, and Entrepreneurs. Black history is global and not just limited to America. Don't forget about "lesser-known" and global figures in history.

Please talk to your child about whether they’d like to participate and, if so, complete the online form by February 13th: WPES Living History Museum Form. Several other activities are being finalized; stay tuned for more updates.

Sincerely,

Gregory Wiseman

Principal, Winnona Park Elementary School

PE News

See you at the Heart Hustle Saturday (details below)! Also, Tour Decatur registration is open at www.tourdecatur.com. Please reach out to Coach Beauchamp (cbeauchamp@csdecatur.net) if cost is a barrier to participating in Tour Decatur.

Community Cupboard Open Next Week

Since the winter break is coming up in a few weeks, we are opening the Community Cupboard Monday- Friday next week. The WP PTA has raised significant funds (through your generosity) to purchase food items that members of our community may need to get through the week-long break. The WP Community Cupboard will have basic food staples for our families Monday-Friday of next week during school hours (8:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.) WP families picking up food simply buzz the front door and say, “Community Cupboard,” then walk over to Trailer C (you don’t have to enter the building). Open the door of Trailer C, place the items in your bags (please bring your own), and exit, closing the door behind you.

Community Member Newsletter Sign-up

Parents will automatically receive CSD Weekly, which includes their child's school newsletter, via the email address they registered in the CSD parent portal. Interested community members, or extended family, may sign up for the CSD Weekly by clicking here.

Please note that when you sign up as a 'community member,' even though the form below asks for your phone number, you will not receive text messages or phone calls.
